I bought a new Remington 7600 Carbine 30-06 Spr. in August to be my main, "all round" deer, hog and black bear hunting rifle/carbine. I put a Leupold VX-II 2-7x33mm Scope, one piece Mount and low Rings on it. It shoots 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards with Fusion 165 gr. factory ammo. That should get better as my back gets better (had surgery this past spring). This little carbine carries and handles like a dream whether I'm in an open field/clear cut, in the woods or in a little brush. It shoots really good and pretty flat for a carbine. The fore-arm just started rattling out of the blue one day, it's more then normal. I'm an hour from Remington's Ilion plant where it was made so I'll probably take it back after the holidays to have that repaired.
Over all though, I really like this setup. It became my favorite hunting rifle/carbine in a really short time. I ended up using it about 95% of the time this season. I might even use it to hunt coyotes too. I had a 7600 carbine about 12 years ago. At the time I had about 5 or 6 deer rifles and didn't really use it that much and traded it. Now I wish I would have kept it and used it all a long. Live and learn I guess.
