I went to a gun store last week and they had a deer slayer barrel for $100 I have two 37's now and I want to get a barrel for buckshot and slugs. I'm not looking for a tack driving gun just somthing that I can shoot slugs out of every now and then and have some fun with. Is $100 a fair price for just a barrel? I have bought barrels for my guns before but I have never had to spend that much before I just want to see if this is a fair price.

^a bargain if it fits^
Ithaca deer slayer barrels tend to be quite accurate with standard forster type slugs- choked a little more than most smooth bore slug barrels in my experience. we've got a 20g that shoots surprisingly well and has hammered a number of whitetails in the past 30 years. cuurently my wife's favorite deer slaying tool.

$100 is agood price, and if it doesn't fit either of your current Ithacas you would still be ahead of the game by having a gunsmith fit to one of them. A word of caution, there are alot of Chinese made parts being sold right now so make sure it is actually Ithaca manufactured and not one of the Chinese knock offs. If it is Ithaca, buy it you'll be happy.

Should have bought it last week, they had a nice 37 come in last week and they put the two together to make a combo deal... $499 for near perfect ithaca and a near perfect deer slayer barrel. Snooze you lose I guess I should have bought it last week on site:banghead:
