Deer stand thoughts....

I agree that the key is having great spot to hunt. i have such a spot. I shoot for my freezer so a fat doe is the best. My buddy and I have killed 4 deer in the last 2 years from the same ground blind. I have all the camo gear, my buddy doesn't. He's a better shot than I am and has killed 3 of the 4 deer. A related story: My brother and I, both veteran squirrel hunters, laugh about the difference in our squirrel hunting now compared to 50 years ago. Then we grabbed our single shot rifles or 410s, pulled on an old pair of jeans and a sweatshirt, and walked out behind the house, usually killing several squirrels, a few rabbits, and maybe a few quail. Now I drive 50 miles one way, fully camoed from head to toe, carry a $1,000 squirrel rifle (one of four I use), walk into the woods carrying my chair and walking/shooting stick along with squirrel calls and a snack....sometimes a thermos. Once I get settled, I fight to stay awake (my chair is comfy) and not spill my coffee. We often do limit out on squirrels since I have access to what is arguably the best place in NE Kansas to hunt. But, I never get a rabbit any more; they are all gone. And haven't killed a quail for 30 years. Camo? Probably not really necessary. I've had deer walk to within spitting distance out of curiosity, with camo and without. The smell and movement is what sends them over the fence!

Your not the first person to say it looks like a outhouse:) on legs.
The elevated outhouse -style blinds are common around here as well, but this time I'll have to raise the bar a bit. It's a common practise to wrap hay in white plastic foil on the fields and someone, somewhere came up with this: https://www.kyttäyskoppi.fi/fi/kyttayspaali

It vaguely resembles these hay "rolls" (commonly called tractor's eggs) from a distance, but in essence it's a huge, glorified plastic trash can you sit in.
