Agreed on the striker-fired pistols, I'll keep my 1911 kept in condition one. The gun in the video not only fired when it wasn't supposed to, it jammed.I have always distrusted striker-fired handguns. A little bit of wear in the firing pin channel (or elsewhere) and it can slip off the sear and fire with sufficient agitation.
What's curious about the video phenomenon is that it didn't double-tap or do a mag dump from the motion of the recoil and slide slamming shut.
I'm awaiting further analysis of the fault in this one.
One of the unappreciated beauties of the 1911 is that the sear rotates instead of having a linear travel, so no matter in which direction it is shocked, it's almost impossible to get the sear to slip off the hammer notch by impact.

I wonder what prompted the recent resurfacing of this video. I remember it from last year and have seen it pop up in several places the last couple daysVideo is from last year, when the Brazilian Police (PMSP) recalled 98,000 .40S&W Taurus PT-24/7 DS pistols due to the issues shown in the video.
Yeah I've heard that the guns made in Brazil for Brazil are waaay worse than the exports because Americans are a lot more strict about their guns than the Brazillian police. The people saying that were from Brazil on another forum.Taurus had a recall of a production run of a particular model that shows defects in the field?
That never happens with other makers (either production runs that show problems in the field or recalls of defective production runs)? What became of jokes about the S&W Stigma of years past?
What's the back story on the procurement of the "98,000 Brazilian Police (PMSP) .40S&W Taurus PT-24/7 DS pistols"? I have heard and read tales that the quality of Brazilian firearms depends on when they were made for whom based on price point dictating QC.
