I can't speak for the BT380 because I don't have one. I HAVE read 99% glowing reports from BT380 owners on wwwBersatalk.com for years. I personally don't care for the 380rd, but the same pistol is made in 22cal, so I bought one of those. (Actually I bought the Firestorm FS22, which is the same pistol as the Bersa, but with rounded trigger guard & finger grove grips).

My FS22, which I paid $227 otd for, is a fantastic little pistol. Very accurate at self defense range, and I have had no relibility issues whatsoever. I had a couple of ftf w/old ammo, but it loves the wwwb "value pak" of 550, and so far has been 100% w/CCI Mini-mags, or Stingers.

I think for a trail pistol/plinker the FS22 is a fantastic bargain.

I was so happy with my FS22 that I wanted a Bersa in my favorite caliber, 9mm, so I bought a BT9/UC for $305+tax, otd. It too has been a super little pistol. I put a CAT (made in Argentina specifically for the BT's), and it works quite well, but I took it off as it made it too bulky for cc.

Bersa/Firestrom pistols heritage comes from the Walther PP/PPK pistols in the 22cal/380's, and the Walther P88 for the BT9/BT9/UC in 9 or 40cal. I honestly believe that just from what I have read the BT380 at half the price of the Walther PPK is the better pistol, all things considered.

The Walther P88 is considered by many to be the apex of quality of the 9mm pistols.. Others like the H&K P7 series, but general opinion is that if the P88 isn't at the top of the all time best 9mm pistol it's very close...

My BT9/UC is extremely accurate, and so far, 100% reliable. I like it more for home defense type use, and with 13+1 CorBon's I think it very adequate for that job.

IMO Bersa/Firestorm pistols are underrated, underpriced (excluding extra mags), and under-marketed in the U.S. You get a lifetime warranty, and lots of pistol for the money.. I'm well pleased with mine, and would recommend the Bersa/Firestorm line of firearms without reservation.

Try one for yourself.

Best Wishes,

Sounds like a deal, I'll come check out more info on the bersa over at bersatalk.

PX, I am new to the variations of handguns, but it seems that everyone who likes 9mm will say that their gun company is the apex or the standard for 9's.
I have heard it from 20 guys about CZ's, 20 guys about Sig's, and now I am hearing it about Walther's. Does this go back to the old "Chevy VS. Ford" scenario?

Dude c'mon that's an easy one......listen to the SIG guys and tune everything else out.

Mine is Reliable

I've had one for about four years now, and I've used it regularly for CCW. I've probably run about 2,000 rounds through it.

At first there were a few reliability issues. I found that all it needed was lubrication, especially in the hammer release (the safety). I use Break-Free exclusively. Last week I ran 100 flawless target (i.e., "cheap") rounds through it with zero errors.

The pistol is very accurate, but it does tend to get dirty with use. You have to keep it clean.

The CC model leaves a lot to be desired like sights and accuracy...

I agree that the sights suck. I think that is probably the reason for your issue with accuracy. I've got about 1000 rounds through my CC now and have no issues with accuracy to speak of. I can shoot a half dozen magazines at a 10-yard target and have all but a couple rounds inside a 3" group. Its just a matter of getting used to those low-profile sights.
