30 years ago I had a Colt officer's lightweight. It wasn't the greatist pistol and actually broke the slide stop on me once. (Wilson's Bulletproof ever since) I don't even remember where I got rid of it even. Moving on, I eventually picked up my Officer's Enhanced that is great but I always remembered how light the old one was and easy to carry. I have passed up so many of them over the years since that it's funny that I would finally say why not? Now this one is on the way. upload_2023-6-6_14-19-37.png

It came today. Almost new and with the original box and paperwork from 1985. I'll be shooting it tomorrow! Neither of the magazines appear have ever had a cartridge in them. The aftermarket trigger is baffling because this gun appears to have only been factory test fired. upload_2023-6-8_17-4-40.png

In my personal experience, an Officers is all steel, while a Defender has an alloy frame.
The Officers is out of production, while the Deffy remains.
Had a .45 Defender when I couldn't find an Officers. The Deffy was great to carry, but not really much fun to shoot.
A stainless Officers finally came my way, so the Defender went down the road.
Now a 9mm Defender is another matter; great combination.

I have a stainless Officers Enhanced too. The Colt Officers Series 80 Lightweight was made from 1985 to 1996, I believe. It was made in steel and with a lightweight alloy frame. The lightweight I have was made in 1985 according to the SN. The difference is 24 oz vs 32 for the steel version.

I'm a fan of 1911's especially one that is not all glamoured up and glitzy. Simplicity has its own beauty...congratulations.
