When emotions get the best of companies STUPID happens. :what: I am waiting for the simply safe adds to stop on talk radio now they have thrown the NRA under the bus.

Aside from the whole Delta/gun issue, the company should not be getting a break on jet fuel tax, nor should any company.

The way this country is managed is a farce. It runs entirely on favors received by people/companies that are wealthy enough not to need them.

I agree. The taxpayer should not be subsidizing Corporations. Corporations should survive, prosper, or fail, based on their decisions.

Government subsidies have been in place since the beginning of this country. It is nothing new. The transcontinental railroad would have never been built without them. It is just the way business is done.

In my opinion this was a huge mistake and simply grand standing by the Lt Governor since he is running for governor in 2020. If GA doesn't want to give Delta a $50,000,000 tax break on fuel, another state will be glad to do so. There are 32,000 people on the payroll at Delta living and paying taxes in GA. VERY high paying jobs. If Delta leaves GA those 32,000 jobs go with them, and the taxes they pay. Conservative estimates of $2000 year year for each of those 32,000 people in state income tax would cost GA $64,000,000 in tax revenue every year, every year, not just one year. And that is a very conservative estimate. Not to mention the property taxes, sales taxes, and other taxes those people pay. Those 32,000 jobs would be hard to fill, and if they are, would certainly be much lower paying jobs.

And for what. Last year 13 people took advantage of the NRA discount to fly Delta.

Who shot who in the foot? We will see.

It won't end there. I'll have to hear what my doctor pal in Atlanta has to say about it before I comment further. Later...

I retired (former NWA) from Delta last March. Luckily my retirement is totally detached from the company. No connection.

Delta had gradually bought the LGA gates at C Concourse, formally operated by USAirways, combining those with former NWA/Delta gates at D Concourse. They have lots of both domestic and int'l gates at JFK. JFK acquired an extra concourse for this. Several gates at EWR also.
Plenty of those valuable 'city pairs' are for domestic travel.

They have been quite successful at calculating business potential, and they analyze any 'moves' they make. The unfortunate people living around Atlanta (i.e. traffic & crime) don't have any other choice for convenient, domestic travel.

+1. There's nothing that burns me more than seeing a news article giving kudos to a corporation for sending money to charity...knowing that I paid higher prices so they could do that and look good.
