Ok, so i just bought a Desert Eagle MkVII in .357 mag. An issue of, "it looks really cool!". got it home and fed it some winchester 110 grn-ers, and some lellier and bellot (sp) 155 grn-ers. Gun shoots awesome, but every rnd or 2, the dang thing fails to load another cartridge. it ejects the spent one, but doesnt load a new one into the chamber. Any ideas why it does this??

My other question, which is potentialy really stupid, is, can you shoot 38's out of it? i've never owned an auto in this cal, but i know you can do that with .357 revolvers. is this possible?

Thanks in advance for all the help

.357 Mag DE's will not cycle reliably unless fed a steady diet of heavy load ammo. Forget the micro bullets and light loads. You need loads that produce a lot of gas pressure.

Amen to what advice nemesis just gave you.

Also, do not run cast or swaged lead out of them. It fouls the gas port and you will have issues.

The ones I have worked with were happiest using top power loads in every instance.

Forget about 38 specials of any stripe, unless you want a really clumsy single shot.

Fun Gun!

Is this a used DE?
Do you have an owners manual?
The DE is a very unique handgun with some very specific needs.
It NEEDS full power, JHP .357 Magnum ammo only!
No .38's. No lead ammo. No FMJ ammo (rare in .357). No wimpy 110 grain JHP's. No Blazer (aluminum case).
Basicaly you are limited to .357 Magnum 158 grain JHP's or JSP's.
You NEED to keep[ it very clean and follow the owners manual closely.
I had the Mk XIX .357 and it was great. I had a Trijicon Reflex II dot sight on it and it was a gas (pun intended).
Federal Eagle 158 grain JSP's and Rem 158 grain JHP's would shoot very well. I averaged 3" groups at 50 yards from a rest with the dot sight.
Reliability was good when it was CLEAN. When it was dirty it would fail to go into battery.
Good luck.
