Desert Eagle woes

Fulleffect1911 did a much better description of the problem than I did. Has anybody had anything like this happen with their DE?

Funny thing is I have. I thought it was more of a limp wristed thing but maybe not. My DE is a .50 as well, but will try some of the suggestions that other people mentioned to see if it helps. Similar problem, would shoot 3-4 in a mag ok, but would not shoot a full mag w/o jamming. Mine never got locked in so to say, just a pullback would correct the feed problem. The gun was bought in 94ish and probably only has less then 200 rds through it. It might just need some more bullets through it.

I haven't shot it too terribly much but I have noticed it doesn't seem to be too terribly accurate, but maybe I'm a little recoil shy? Doesn't feel that way to me but maybe, as I carry a .357 j-frame and can shoot it all day w/ carry loads and keep tighter patterns then the DE.

Are the loads supposed to be max loads? I load to one step below max

Loads are supposed to be at/near max with a slow burning powder. Fast powders might not give a long enough gas pulse.

only use jacked bullets too. Lead bullets will plug up the gas ports in the barrel.

Don't press up on the mag when you are shooting keep your fingers off it just don't touch it, I don't think this would cause the failure to return to battery but its worth a shot, and this may sound strange but are you using a push pull method with your grip push with the web of your right hand pull with the bottom of your left, try to let it recoil straight back, not muzzle up let your elbows bend, i know i had troubles with all of these things when i first got my 44 DE. as for the jacked bullets thing i mainly shoot H&K with polygonal barrels and I have never seen any type of damage from using cast lead bullets, but there are many schools of thought out there on that, thats just my .02.

On the Desert Eagle it has nothing to do with the type of rifling in the barrel. The Eagle uses a gas system to operate and un-jacketed bullets will deposit lead into the gas system and clog it causing the gun to malfunction
