To the guys complaining about the poll being biased or whatever, sorry it wasn't intentional. Anyways I think the results varied enough.

they're impractical, and expensive to maintain and shoot.

ill go for 2 out of the 3.

unless you reload then it would be 1 out of the 3

how is the DE 50 expensive to maintain,

I CHANGED THE SLID SPRINGS OUT FOR a WOLF set
AND THAT IS ALL I HAVE SPENT ON MINE.:scrutiny:

and added a Bushnell trophy to the top,
(had a cheep BSA on it ,looked stupid to me but it held up to the task :what:)

and she aint no safe queen.;)

this was about a year back before the Bushnell and a few extra mags

Suprised anyone would get that many for just a range gun!
dont forget
and have 500+ rounds loaded up too :D

i have this thing about mags ok.

i cant just have 5 (5 is my number for mags per gun that needs a mag )

and if i find one someone is unloading some for chump change well im the chump that will buy it.:uhoh:

i look at the bag and think the same thing but WTH:eek:,

if i didn't have to pay the 38-50$ a mag im good ;),

and as for a range gun i like to shoot not load , loading is for the night before.
don't want to say how many 1911 mags i have gathered up in the past 30+ years from getting my first 1911

my thinking is if they cant get rid of the guns just get rid of the mags, i like to have extras on hand. need a wagon to tote them all when loaded up

I have one, XIX CA model...
3 different calibers, 44 Mag, 50 AE and 440 Corbon...
Numerous barrels 6 and 10 inch in 44 and 50, 10" only, in 440, 2 of those, one is a rechambered 44 mag, and then I found an original 440 :)

I voted, I like them:D

I've shot two Desert Eagles, both chambered for .50ae and they were both jam-o-matic pieces of crap
Well, I've shot one DE 50, the one I've owned since 1993, and it's been perfect--I've never had a jam. But, generous guy that I am--and that most DE owners are :D--I've had 20+ friends shoot it over the years. All of those (four, I think) who limp-wristed it (so that the barrel in recoil pointed straight up) ended up with a FTEject jam. None of the others did.

In my case, one gun, multiple shooters, with the gun always functioning when controlled properly. In your case, two guns, one shooter (?) and "jam-o-matic." So, we have two possibilities: maybe it's the gun (that is, IMI/MRI/Kahr have bad QC, and I got very lucky), and maybe it's the shooter.

It would be interesting to get details: was the owner getting jams every shot? Were you, or just on some shots? What was the ammo (any reloads...any lead reloads)?

Nah...forget all that. Hate the gun! Hate the gun! :cuss:

As the hate spreads (I hope!) and prices fall, I should be able to pick up a few more at a bargain!

As to having opinions on guns that you haven't shot: I like Freedom Arms revolvers, but I've never shot one; I don't like Korth revolvers, but I've never shot one. Oh, well, I have to face it: I'm such a poser! ;)

I would rather a firearm that can be limp-wristed and still remain reliable. In a hunting arm not intended for self-defense, that can be accepted I suppose.

My buddy has the 44mag & 357mag and both have shot great for me..... And I have shot them both a bunch. I am still looking for a .41mag to hunt with...any one got one for sale???

Desert Eagles are ridiculously accurate and fun to shoot, I have one in 44 mag, it has never shot any factory ammo and heard it can be quite picky. I reload and it did take a few tries to figure out what OAL and charge it was happy with. But once I got that sorted out I could easily put 100 rounds through it with no problems. And if you lose focus and get sloppy with your grip it will eject brass straight towards your forehead :D

I recently sold my .44 (mainly because it's too big for me to shoot easily and I wanted the money for something else), but the one I had was accurate and reliable enough for me. I had a few malfunctions with it, but I'm pretty sure all but maybe one or two of the malfunctions I experienced were from limp wristing. I'm a girly man.

Deagles get lumped in with tec-9s, MACs, and every other "mall ninja" gun that's popular mainly because of it's looks, and it's not fair, because unlike most ninja guns, DEs are as well made and accurate (if not more so) than rugers, S&W, or any other "quality" manufacturer.

Are they practical? Absolutely not.

Would I carry one for SD? Not unless I was as big as Brock Lesnar.

Are they worth their $1200+ price tag for a new one? Nope, but people will still buy them because they are one the most recognizable and badass handguns ever made. There's only been a few other pistols comparable to the DE, and none of those are in production anymore (AMT, wildey, etc) that I'm aware of. DE's have been made for what, close to three decades now? You don't stay in business that long making a product that cost that much money if it's complete garbage.

Anytime I would take it shooting with other people, that was always the gun everyone wanted to shoot. When I put it up for sale I got more calls on it than any other gun I've ever sold, and most were from people who couldn't afford it but always wanted one and were lowballing or trying to trade me cheap junk:mad:. It's the kinda gun that you can't even pick up without smiling. They're just that awesome, and hopefully I'll have the money to get another one someday...preferably a gold titanium tiger striped one in .50AE:).

People that don't like desert eagles are the same kinda people who don't appreciate muscle cars or breast implants.

It might be an Israeli gun, but it's excessiveness is as American as it gets.

"People that don't like desert eagles are the same kinda people who don't appreciate muscle cars or breast implants."

I, for one, do not appreciate breast implants. Give me natural beauty and you keep the fake crap. I also had a friend who had a 1985 Mercury Capri (the Mercury Mustang at the time) with the 5.0 liter engine. We were on the interstate bridge over the Mobile River delta, sometime around 1992. Another friend passed us in a Toyota Corolla FX-16. That little 4-cylinder ate our lunch. Yeah, he had a Five-Oh, yeah he had a muscle car with a standard transmission, yeah he drove as fast as he could, yeah that little Corolla ate our lunch the entire length of that 7-mile long bridge - including the humps. I was reminded of the song Beep Beep involving a Nash Rambler and a Caddy.

IF the Desert Eagle is as muscle cars and breast implants, then the nay-sayers are right - all image and very little substance - (at least regarding the implants, that Capri did have muscle if it lacked speed).
