Greetings All

I have just aquired a Detonics .45ACP pistol ( blue finish serial number 66xx, Seattle WA) and was wondering if those of you who have owned one could give me your experience of how it compares to the Colt Officers model from a functioning point of view (185 gn JSP's). I have heard these short barrelled 1911A1 types can be a bit fussy and not always go bang when required but had no problems with a OM I previously owned.

Any and all points welcome.

MD - moved this to autoloaders where you may get better exposure.

BTW - check your sig text - you have italics tags affecting your color tags - which is probably why it does not display right - check it or if a prob I'll correct it for you.

Welcome to THR BTW too :)

To save you the trouble I have straightened out your sig line code :)

I have an original Detonics, SN# about 2/3 of yours. It's digested well over 5,000 rds of hardball, and probably 4-500 rds of Hydra-Shoks, without a hiccough. (I used to get all the hardball I wanted to shoot when I ran the CID range at the MP School :D :D :D ). When I originally bought it, it balked at feeding the HP stuff, but I took it back to the factory in Seattle (I was stationed at Ft. Lewis at the time) and they did a full throat job for me. Now it feeds empty cases. Haven't shot too much of the 185-gr stuff through it, but it reliably fed and shot the few times I tried it.

No experience with the Colt Officer's Model.
