Dear Moderator Jeff,
Please stop being an apologist for the current Administration. Your comment was as political as anyone else's. Let these idiots be hoisted by their own petard.
Here is how the document defines Right Wing Extremism:
Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.
So, if (1) you favor states rights over federal authority - some may recall the old Jefferson v. Hamilton struggle over this issue some 230 years ago - or (2) you are opposed to illegal immigration (funny thing about the word "illegal" in there), or (3) you are Pro-Life, or heaven forbid, a practicing Catholic - you are now a Right Wing Extemist. Wonderful.
Some more wonderful stuff. And the first one is strictly related to guns!
The high volume of purchases and stockpiling of weapons and ammunition by rightwing extremists in anticipation of restrictions and bans in some parts of the country continue to be a primary concern to law enforcement.
So, without citing any LEO's or studies, they say the current purchases of weapons and ammo are a "primary concern to law enforcement." I say BS.
Returning veterans possess combat skills and experience that are attractive to rightwing extremists.
So now you are a potential enemy of the Obamanation if you served in the military. Wonderful.
A recent example of the potential violence associated with a rise in rightwing extremism may be found in the shooting deaths of three police officers in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on 4 April 2009.
So now the Pittsburgh nutjob killer whose mother was trying to get his sorry butt out of her house is Prime Example No. 1 of Right Wing Extremists. Wonderful.
Many rightwing extremists are antagonistic toward the new presidential administration and its perceived stance on a range of issues, including immigration and citizenship, the expansion of social programs to minorities, and restrictions on firearms.
Well, they got me there. I don't like Obama's actual, not perceived, stances on (a) illegal immigration (they keep leaving that "illegal" word out, hmmm), (b) the horrific increase in our national deficit to fund social programs which will weigh heavily on (God willing) my grandchildren, and (c) his strong history of actual recorded votes on all gun issues.
Guess this makes me a dreaded Right Wing Extremist. Wonderful.
Because debates over constitutional rights are intense, and parties on all sides have deeply held, sincere, but vastly divergent beliefs, violent extremists may attempt to co-opt the debate and use the controversy as a radicalization tool.
Heaven forbid any disagree with the Obamanation's view of the US Constitution. You must have been co-opted by the RWE's. Wonderful.
I could go on. But this Report is written with about as much reasoning a 4th grader's book report taken off Wikipedia the night before it was due when he didn't read the book. Absolutely zero supporting evidence for any of its grandiose assumptions.
But it truly is scary if these are the people now in charge. :banghead:
