While mass kids around the country were whining about gun control today I got together with a few good friends at a buddy's range.

A new guy was invited and brought his 11yo son who was completely new to firearms. I got to take part in introducing this young boy into the fold. He did very well with safety and was a surprisingly extremely good shot, especially with pistols. He shot .22, 9mm and 45acp handguns and a variety of rifles from .22 to a RPR in 6.5C and a Ranch hand in 7.62x39. And of course a scary AR. His favorite gun of the day was his dad's scoped Mark2. He was smacking golf balls at 100yds with relative ease.

It was a great day and even though only one kid turned pro 2A, made me feel like I was doing something in the face of all the garbage that was going on in the country at the time.

Anyone else do something to help the cause today?

My 2 boys and I finished up a History Channel documentary about America. We got to see some of the Vietnam protests. We talked about how people in this country have the freedom to protest, freedom of speech, right to self defense, etc. We discussed the arguments the antis are using, and the fallacies therein. We talked about possible solutions, and they even came up with some possibilities that I hadn't mentioned. I don't know of anyone I talk to that is anti, so I am trying to cement American freedom into my own kids' minds.

We too spent the day shooting with friends and exercising our Freedom by making some noise with a "bump-fire" stock on a 9mm AR and ringing some 400 yard steel with the .308 RPR.

Work day at our range yesterday. We mowed, cut brush, rebuilt target frames, hauled away the old ones ... Amazing what a team of people can accomplish in three hours.

My wife wanted to help so she joined the NRA for three years. I also threw some cash at the PVF. Also set up a shooting date with new shooters I met at dinner last night. Waiting for it to warm up.

Yesterday I donated 25 dollars to NRA-ILA as part of some internet related stuff where folks were all gonna donate on Mar. 24th, the day of the anti-gun march in D.C.. It would be interesting to know how much was donated on that day.

I helped one friend sell several guns to other friends Saturday while the MFOL was being staged.

We all should have bought NRA gift memberships for the Anti Gunners

i was surprised by the thread title to see you actually did something.. 9/10 times when people claim "i did my part" it means they gave put $20 in wayne lapierres pocket just so they could tell people theyre fighting gun control.. but actually educating new people is the way to go, i make it a point to find willing people with no experience and educate and train them into new gun owners.. and with the video game industry making tens of millions of young people around the nation want ARs and AKs of their own, theres a lot of new would be shooters looking for education

and now that i just went back and read the rest of the thread i cant stop myself from laughing over how many of people chimed in to say they donated to the NRA.. sure you guys are doing something, sure you are

Bringing a new shooter into the fold is great. I wish we all could do it on a regular basis. The reality is that some of us can't. If people donate to the NRA that's great too.
Where exactly do you think the 2A would be without the NRA? If you don't like the idea of turning your lone voice into 5,000,000 strong then don't join. But don't put down the ones that do.

5 million isnt much at all, the left has far more than that in their anti gun groups, so 5 mil isnt impressive.. without them compromising and sacrificing our rights on our behalf we wouldnt have the NFA, GCA, brady bill, background checks.. until the NRA publicly apologizes and puts forth and effort to undo their past crimes against the constitution, i will never give them a dime

Got a call from a good friend who has decided who has decided now is the time to become a gun owner and asked for some guidance. He shot .22's a fair amount as a kid but now wants to get a couple good defensive weapons. We'll be getting him set up with a good entry level AR and also a 9mm pistol plus the essentials he needs. I'm thrilled to welcome him to the fold.

Made sure I was paid up on my NRA dues. Stopped shopping at Dick's. Cancelled my Lowe's credit card since it is backed by Citibank. And purchased a new rifle. Will never buy anything firearms related as well from certain box stores. Sent a terse letter to my congressman.

re joined one of my shooting clubs, took wife. joined GOA. bought a new gun; pick up tomor. got a friend interested in purchasing a defensive firearm. glad to see so many others taking some action

Had a conversation with students. Asked what they wanted with their movement. We made a list of the existing laws violated and enforcement failure to act items from Florida.

I told them a stoy about Greenpeace in the 1970's and the anti-nuclear movement from then. I told them about the impassioned students, peace, tye-dye. I told them today we have the benefit of 20-20 hindsight and know Rockerfeller funded the whole anti-nuclear movement because he was all in on gas and oil. I explained what a political tool was. Not a comfortable conversation to them. Nobody wants to be labeled a tool.

I explined they are trying to give up their rights that their g-g-g grandparents died for and that history shows there are no guarantees and limited success in government.

I had a great Saturday the 24th
I work at a public indoor range and our RSO's taught all those wives that were dragged to the range to watch their significant shoot their big bore pistols and revolvers and were expected to ohh and ahh after every shot. We asked if we could borrow that (usually female) for a few minutes and took her over to a different lane, gave her basic simple instruction, my Volquartsen Ruger Hunter with 4" barrel, and watched as they after only a few shots, proceeded to outshoot their companion. We RSO's have done this for years but it was particularly satisfying on the 24th. Lot's of new fresh targets for the refrigerator and we taught all of them to repeat the six greatest words in the English language, "Honey, I need a new gun".
Went home, made a couple of contributions, and went to bed a happy man.

Called Citi and closed my account. Told them that I would no longer do business with them because of their restrictions on lawful firearm transactions.
Taking new people to the range is probably better, but at least we need to make those banks and businesses aware that they will lose our support in the future.
