where they kept sending you something that was somehow a little bit wrong each time, yet they handled it so well that you hate to bug them about some mistake after a while?

I have that problem right now and have a C&R rifle that isn't quite as advertised (and the replacement parts can't be found at GPC anymore), but still shootable. The dealer has been very gracious and paid to have it shipped back each time and a replacement shipped twice now. I don't really want the gun in its current shape, but feel that the dealer tried and I could probably get my money back on a private sale.

How would you handle it?

I'm going give the dealer another shot and plan on buying at least one other item from them (that only they have) to reconfirm things. If that doesn't work, well then so be it.

I've been in the retail awards business for 34 years, so everything I sell is custom made. I gotta tell ya, I might have 15 or 20 customers in a row where everything is right other than an occasional miss-spelled name (which I fix, while you wait, no questions asked). But every once in a while, we get that order that just will not go right. Wrong parts come in, wrong color, day late, short one piece, etc. It always happens multiple times on the same order.

All we can do is keep trying, giving the customer a better price, upgrade on materials, even deliver across town to save the customer time.

I say give them another chance. If they continue to do business this way, find another vendor.

C&R stuff is subjective, but I think that I could make a case. Problem is I don't want to sabotage my chance for an Argentine 1911.
