Did you hit a point where aquiring new guns wasn't that much of a priority anymore?

I'm about there now, just a few more to go. After that, everything on my list is a want, not a need and if they becomes needs, they're not a lot of money and I can get them by selling other guns that I'm starting to realize aren't all I thought they were going to be. Case in point is an over/under I have that can easily be replaced with a single shot shotgun that costs $150. Single stack 9mm... don't currently have one, but they're so cheap right now that I may as well get one. If I decide in the future that I didn't really need it, I can sell it during the next panic for what I bought it for.

In my 60 years I've been there several times, but fortunately, it always seems to pass ... Usually soon after I sell some of the ones I haven't shot in 2+ years ;)

I'm there. After 3 days at The Shot Show this year, the only thing that intrigued me was the new NAA top break mini revolver......go figure.

I hope they follow though on it this time. I wanted one the last time they announced a few years ago.

It messes up my 2 is 1 buying plan (well sort of. I will justify it as a mate to my Taurus M-941. Big brother, little brother). But once in while it is worthwhile to take a detour and get something that looks like it will be lot fun to have.

yeah i dont need any more for sometime the last pistol was this
https://ibb.co/e2gEgH
a 9mm Taurus pt92 afs
that was the smaller brother GAP_of the 40 cal version pt 100 af
so after that i bought my 308 sagia and that filled the gap between the sks and ak 47/ mac 90 7.62x39
so i am all gap_ filled out;) now

I've hit the proverbial wall. As there is nothing out there that I really want. (I'm under 65 too) plus I've grown very picky over the years.

That said, my daughter did tell me she wants to hunt hogs with me. So I will have to pickup something for her or customize one of my rifles to fit her.

I am 65 and yes, experience is finally catching up on me. I realize I do not need any more guns as much as I would like to have more. However, the itch to shoot more and more increases as I get older. So my goal is LESS GUNS, MORE AMMO. I am also a firm believer in SHOOT WHAT YOU CARRY. So I shoot a enormous amount of 380 and 9mm ammo. I also shoot a ton of 22.cal. I primarily shoot the Pico, Kahr, LC9S and the LCR9mm. And that is actually narrowing more and more to just the Pico and the LCR9mm and the LCR22.cal. All three of these get to the range a minimum of once a week.
I like shooting these guns, and all are built tough for a lot of range time. They can handle it.

I have all of the hunting and target rifles I could possibly ever want/need. I do have a short list of rifles and handguns I want to add to the collection. After I acquire what is on my short list another short list will probably start to grow.

At 80 I've a number of guns bought, sold, and traded. And still have most of them I am slowly selling a lot of them as I have no one to leave them too, and my wife wouldn't have any idea how to sell them.

At this time, there is only one rifle that I am even remotely considering, and that is the Keltec CMR-30 .22 Mag rifle. I already have a Marlin bolt-action for hunting but I also have the PMR-30 pistol that uses the same magazines as the CMR-30. That is the main reason I might get the CMR. Otherwise, I'm done. It doesn't help that my situation is similar to Ourway77 - nobody to leave it to either.

I'm done. Recently, not 10 miles away, a LNIB Mossberg 500 in .410 became available. 20 years ago "Get it 'cause you don't have one." Now it's "Can't think of a reason to own it." Joe

Meh. I'm in the "buy occasionally" group. I love browsing GunBroker, but there are really very few items I have an itch for. What I'm more interested in are very high end muzzle-loaders. Mostly original pieces.

Yup. About 20 years ago when I sold off almost all of my firearms except for CCW.
Modern firearms just don't interest me anymore.

But...

I was forced to buy a new O/U with chrome bores awhile back when CA outlawed lead shot for hunting.
I did add a vintage Sheridan Blue Streak two years ago just because I always wanted one when I was a kid.
I just bought a cap and ball Pietta1858 Remington New Army through the mail just because CA law allowed for it.
I may have to get a Lyman Great Plains before they change the law on muzzle loaders here.

I have reached that point a couple of years ago. I would rather take the money to buy a new rifle or handgun and use it for ammunition so I can shoot the firearms I have now more often. I would rather shoot my M-1 Garand, Swedish Mauser or Remington 700 in .308 more than buy a new rifle in another caliber.
I am not opposed to buying a new firearm, but it would have to be special for some reason for me to do it.

I hope that makes sense.

I have to buy another safe before I buy too many more guns. I keep telling myself that I really should let go of the ones I don't want/need, but when I start making a list I can only think of a few I want to get rid of.

So I guess it's time to buy another safe.

Crap, I said I would not buy any more guns and then came damn close to ordering a Nano last night. Only sheer will Power prevented me from pulling the trigger. (As least for the next 24 hrs). As a addict, I have to just take it one day at a time. Never know when I might fall off the wagon.

I find myself not buying and trading guns with the same fervor I once did. I find myself with 14 handguns, 13 of which are safe to shoot. I also have 4 rifles, only one of which I shoot regularly.

In the past I would buy a gun, be happy, but shortly afterwards there was a quick turn around on desiring the next gun. I had the mentality of getting guns early so I can enjoy them for a long time, and it always seemed that I had the next one on the list in mind.

Don't get me wrong, I still have a long list of guns I'd like to try, and possibly own, but I have less time to shoot than I once did, and despite being a year and a half into a promotion with a decent pay increase, I find myself having less time to shoot, and less money with which to spend on guns.

I don't know if I have more of an eye on the future, and thus am less willing to spend large sums of money.

I don't know if I've now shot enough guns that the "I want to try everything." mentality has worn off.

I don't know if my recent endeavor into reloading has me thinking about savings and developing good loads for the guns I own. I am trying to save money, so maybe that has caused a passive response in my brain causing me to turn off desire.

I used to always have a gun I was thinking about trading towards something else. It makes me wonder if I really liked the pursuit of the next transaction more than the gun itself. I used to be on Gunbroker all the time. Now I'm hardly on there at all. However, I like all the guns I own, and don't really care to get rid of any of them.

I THINK what it boils down to for me is a combination of all of the above.

What about all of you? Are you still buying with all the same interest as usual, or have you tapered off a bit? Also, can you identify one or more reasons for your attitude?

I've reached that stage now - have a LOT of guns, both handguns and long guns - now, I do some reloading, fine tune the rifles and to a degree some of my handguns for competition (USPSA) as well as adding new optics, testing reloads and keeping all of them in good shape. I figure, if a big "blow up" occurs in the area I live, I can always provide quite a few firearms to a neighborhood militia type organization. If it never occurs, my son and grandson will get quite a haul of really nice firearms. And, just like everything else, it's tough finding good bargains nowadays - prices are steadily climbing.

On a very positive note, yesterday I just turned two of my 800$ prop-rods into accurate shooting irons.
Porky and Noreen are now ringing the gong. I have high hopes for the Mini-14. Ahh, someday...

I agree with bsa1. I think i would like to stop and enjoy the ones i have before getting anymore. I have 5 handguns, and 5 rifles
Extra small, small, medium, large, extra large.
Got everything covered. Squirrel to brown bear. i have 1 shotgun also. I still want more though! Thompson smg, M1a, ruger scout rifle, garand?

Buying guns has never been a priority for me. Having self defense weapons was at one point but now that I have the basics covered, that's covered.

So now, my purchases are because I want to compete, and because I enjoy assembling ARs.

In other words I have many interests and priorities in life and I try to balance them.

I thought I was finally finished, well except for a .308 AR, then Sig had to finally announce the P229 Legion SAO so now that's on my list.

Nice thing is if it shoots like I expect (from shooting the 226 and 220 SAO versions) I can scratch the Wilson EDC X9 off my "really want but probably will never afford" list.
