DIE CHOICE FOR 9X23

Single stage Hornady L-N-L. I like to crimp as a seperate stage but do not have too.
Which die set do you use?

All the majors make dies for the 9x23. It's all up to you as to what you want to spend and the quality you need. Hornady Carbide is the middle of the road and what I would suggest if you are not interested in comp. level loading.

I use the hornady dies. They aren't as user friendly as some. But they were on sale and a LOT cheaper than any of the others at the time.

I've always found the Hornady dies pretty user friendly, what was hard about them?
Keep in mind I have sets from just about every maker there ever was, so my view is a little different than some. To me arbor type dies are the biggest PITA.

I have trouble with the seating die. It has a free floating collar that hangs down below the bottom of the die and moves up with the round as you seat. I just gives me fits trying to get the thing set up. The .45-70 set i had NEVER worked right. It wasn't put together when i got it and i had to figure out how to assemble it probably didn't get it right. The 9x23 set was put together and does work but just isn't easy to set up.

That is actually a great help, it alligns the bullet to the mouth of the cartridge so you don't have to bell the case to keep from crushing or misalignment. I do understand the wierdness of it though, If you are not used to using them it makes you think some dumba** screwed your set up and sent it out anyway.

I still don't like it But they were half the price of all the rest so i'll take it.

I use Lee 9x19mm dies for 9x23mm for seating.

I never reload 9x23mm, as the brass takes allot of stress.
