I have a SIG P220 SAO. I have been mostly satisfied with this pistol and love how it feels in my hand as well as how smoothly it operates. However, one thing I have noticed is that the trigger pull feels different than the 1911. I was aware that the mechanism was different when I bought the pistol, so that there is a difference is not my concern. I have noticed that the reset on the SIG is a little longer than that of the 1911. That is somewhat a concern of mine but I consider it a relatively minor one.
I bought the SIG on election day because it was at least $500 cheaper than 1911s with comparable features (ambi safety, frame rail, night sights, ect.). I have been happy with it, but I am interested in knowing what the difference is, mechanically speaking, between the 1911 and the SIG SAO pistols, as well as other SAO trigger mechanisms, as well as advantages and disadvantages of each.
