Glad Savage at least tried to make it right for you. They've always impressed me with their Customer Service stories and the couple times I've called.

Not me!! They made a batch of defective Weather Warriors and expected me to cover the cost of shipping back to them to have it fixed. I'll never buy another Savage.

That sucks. Did you try more than one person? Since that post, I've sent one rifle back, and they covered shipping.

Savage is still going strong for me.

I bought a new Rem 700 in 2008, When I went to pick up the rifle, I took my borescope and did a thorugh inspection of a the rifle. The barrel was full of deep machine marks and extensive copper fouling. No money changed hands and I ordered another rifle. 2nd rifle came, same problem. Third rifle came and this gun was immaculate. During the process I did talk to Remington's customer service, and I also talked to the regional rep face to face at the LGS. When the third rifle came it was right.
In times like now in the panic buying the manufacture is not concerned about quality, just quanitey out the door, and deal with the problem s they appear.
Now, and for about the nest 12 mos. is not the time to be buying a new rifle. If you must do a good inspection before you lay down the money.

If you have any reason that may lead you to believe that rifle has been used DON"T SHOOT IT ! Don't clean it any farther, take it back and demand a refund.

You have already removed signs of it being shot beyond factory proofing. If YOU shoot it you ain't got a chance of getting your $$$$ refunded.

Got my MkII GL today and the bolt is clean out of the box.

Now if I could only get the bolt to go into the rifle :cuss:

With the safety OFF pull and hold the trigger back, align the bolt and slide it in. It should go in without a problem making sure the safety is off and the trigger is held back. Have you tried that? Also, that should be covered in the manual.
