Hello,

I recently purchased an IZHMASH Biathlon Basic and wanted to separate the "metal" from the "wood" so that I might refinish the stock. The manual with its multitude of caveats revealed nothing of use. An email to EAA generated a polite call us!

Okay, here it is:
0) Normal caveat, be sure the gun is empty ...
1) Stock up, barrel pointed away,
2) Remove the screw in the triggerguard --- which conceals one of the action screws,
3) Pull the triggerguard, up and towards youself,
4) Note that there is a tab on front of the triggerguard which needs to go in first when reassembling.
5) Undo both screws.

i gather the round pivot pin in the rear of the breach hinge
pops up to remove the bolt and sight down the bore

Yes, indeed! Removing the pivot pin allows the bolt to be removed. Please note that there is a "keeper" that you need to depress in order to pull that pin.
