Discuss the greatness of the Glock 19 here.

Nothing good can come of this thread, as it's all been done to death... In the past week, in three other threads.

Mods, please consider closing, for the sake of the storage space.

To bad the kool-aid drinkers don't stay at Glocktalk and leave the rest of us to discuss firearms in peace...

Maybe I should start a "Discuss the greatness of the Model 1911" thread, then someone else can post a "Discuss why the greatness of the Glock 19 is more awesome than the greatness of the Model 1911" thread, then...

Wow, three guys trash your thread right off the bat. Harsh.

I'll chime in. My Glock 19 was the first pistol I ever purchased. Never selling it. I've bought many more, of all makes and models, from $200-$2000 per, and I still go back to Glocks. There.

The anti Glock Kool-Aid flows freely here on THR ..
I did not start out hating glocks but I like other guns better and glock fanboys who tout them as the end all best have brought me to a high level of distain.

What's your point?

Just about every type of weapons has it's "fanboy" that touts what they prefer as the end all best.

Fanboys of other makes that infringe on threads with the sole purpose of disruption... This is what brings me to a high level of disdain.

I like the G19, but it is to small for my hand. The G17 and G21 fit me like custom fit tools.

I own two Glocks, a G22 and a G19. The G22 is o.k. but the G19 is about the best feeling/shooting Glock I've handled. It isn't my favorite 9mm, it hasn't made me want to purchase another Glock and I don't see any more Glocks in my future; but if you were only going to own one Glock it should be a G19.

To bad all of us gun owners can't appreciate ALL guns.

It gets old seeing people come in and crap on threads that do not interest them.

Remember, you do not have to post in every thread.

I for one like Glocks, but then again I like all quality weapons and don't have anything bad to say about them. Sure some don't work well for me, but that's the reason why there are so many choices.

What's great about the Glock 19?
Reliability, accuracy, cost, caliber, size, weight, capacity, mag availability & cost, parts availability & cost, ease of doing the minimal required maintenance, durability, and the thousands of Glock certified armorers throughout the Western World should you really have a problem.

The grip angle doesn't work for me though, and I don't want to cough up the money for a CCF race frame & 1911 angle backstrap. However, I'm still going to buy one. As soon as an ugly duckling beat up G19 that I can buy cheap gets traded into the shop I'm buying it. I'll then do the grip reshaping myself.

Let's see, the Glock 19,,,,,,
About the size of a Colt Officers 1911 style pistol.
G-19 holds 15 shots verses six shots in the Officers pistol.
Fully loaded with 16 rounds, the G-19 weighs less than a steel frame Officers Model Colt .45 loaded with 7 rounds.
G-19 is more controllable than any small .45
9mm ammunition is cheaper than .45 acp ammunition.
Glock 15 shot magazines are cheaper than most Colt 1911 six round officers style magazines from any brand name that are considered reliable.
The G-19 ISN'T a .45 acp
I grew up drinking Kool-Aid.:)

The G19 is an outstanding all around carry gun. Mine has seen thousands of rounds in my hands and students hands.

I better get a couple more before the election!

I own better looking,better made,better pointing,better finished,better shooting,more accurate,more easily concealed,more expensive/less expensive...handguns but choose to carry a G19.

Why,when there seem to be guns that are better in any given way? Because when it all averages out, what matters most to me is ease of use, reliability and having personal faith and comfort in a tool that is there simply to get the job done.It might not be very sexy but I know what's going to happen every time I pull the trigger and the G19 hits the happy medium for me when it comes to shootability vs carry comfort and concealment, caliber and capacity.I should say cost, convenience and controlability for a few more c words too.

I understand that some people just don't like them when it comes to aesthetics and some still think plastic is bad or that 9mm isn't viable or that guns need external safeties, and those are all valid personal opinions, but I have a VERY,VERY hard time taking anyone seriously who in any way badmouths the G19 when it comes to function. The things just flat out work.

Oddly enough, this is the only Glock I'd consider buying...actually it's the only Glock I AM buying...

The rest of them just dont fit my hands correctly, but the G19 fits.

I had a hard time deciding between a CZ P-01 and the Glock 19, but dammit I want to see what the fuss is about with Glocks so I went ahead with it.

Glock 19 with Glock Night Sights.

I should say cost, convenience and controlability for a few more c words too.

Sometimes I alliterate when making a point, too. Used to drive one of my professors crazy. :p

Now, I just rhyme.

"Say, I do like guns that don't jam! Thank you, thank you, Bam-I-am!" :D

One of my most favored and most carried pistols I own. Compact, lightweight, accurate, reliable, and durable beyond anything I could and have put it through. Bought it back in 1994, and it still looks awesome despite many years of being carried.

Last summer, I bought a third generation Glock 23 expecting to fall in love with it much like my Glock 19, but it's not happened. Something about it, but it's no 19.

I realize now how much I like the second generation Glock frames. I may never get a Glock 23 again, but I certainly wouldn't hesitate in purchasing another second generation Glock 19. Perfect? No, far from. Suits my needs for carry? Very much so. I'll never part with it.

Simply put, it does what it does and it does it well.

I dont own one right now, but I did carry one as a duty weapon for a while. I never felt outgunned.

An excellent choice, I'd say!
