I had an interesting idea, and figured someone here might know what I'm talking about.

Dispensing cleaners and oils for the guns is a problem. You don't generally just spray the stuff on there, so spray bottles don't really work. Tipping the bottle, and the various dispensing tops are difficult as well, at least as far as controlling how much you get. You're also generally limited on the size, which limits the economy.

I had a thought though. Years ago in high school, I remember the nurse had a small bottle that had what looked like a concave salt shaker top. There was a cover for that, but basically, she'd get a cotton ball and push it down on the top. A pump would force the alcohol or whatever antiseptic she had in there up into the dish-like top, and get absorbed by the cotton ball. Being able to pump just a few clicks onto a rag rather than messing with the flip up spout or whatever would be nice, and I could buy gallon jugs of Hoppes and such to refill with.

So, anyone know what I'm talking about, and where to get one?

What a great idea. I'm going to have to give it a shot.

Most any electronic repair, bio, or medical supply place should have them. Look for "Menda pumps". I found this place with a little googling. They also have glass versions which might be nice for some of the nastier solvents.

I've been using them for years.

There are two different types:

1) Does not allow remaining contaminated cleaner from the dish to re-enter the storage base. The stem that stops the contaminated cleaner makes it difficult to wet patches and brushes with cleaner. This would be the prefered choice were the purity of the fluid is important, but as it's just for gun cleaning I don't feel it is.

2) Allows the contaminated fluid to re-enter the base, thus contaminating the fluid in the storage base. I use this type of dispenser because it is easy to wet patches and brushes. I only fill the base 1/3 to 1/2 full (a couple of Ozs) and change cleaning fluid when it is almost empty.

Respectfully,
