DNR violations and background checks

Do misdemeanor wildlife violations show upon background checks? Can they effect a gun purchase or FFL application. I'm in Illinois.

I do not believe so though I have never had a DNR violation in the State of Illinois. One minor off road violation in Wyoming but unless your DNR violations add up to a felony I don't believe you have anything to worry about.

I'm sure there are DNR violations, just like a speeding ticket, that won't disqualify you from making a gun purchase. But I would assume there are some traffic violations and wildlife violations that may get in the way.

What was the maximum penalty for the offense in question?


Federal:

Convicted of a felony. Convicted in any court of a crime which in punishable by a term of more than one year or a misdemeanor punishable by more than two years.

Indicted for a crime punishable by more than one year.
