Don't do it b/c the gubmint says so. Do it b/c your family deserves it.

Just this last week my water heater crapped out and was leaking. The shutoff valve was the old fashion problematic gate valve that was STUCK. I had to shut off the water to my house to stop the leak. Since it was Friday and the water heater could be replaced until Sunday, buckets were filled to the top as well as many pots as I could grab. It sucks to be living the "cabin" life in the big city.

BTW, water heater was replaced as well as the gate valve with a ball valve. The water cutoff was also modernized with a ball valve. Life is good again.
