Do people know that you own?

A select number of close friends know, and everybody in my immediate family knows. Beyond that, no. Coworkers - no. Acquaintances - no. Neighbors - no.

For the most part,

I have become known as "The Gun Guy" among friends and relatives. When asked how many, I just shrug and say I don't keep an exact count. When asked what kinds, I usually respond with: old WWII Bolt Action guns, heirloom collector type stuff. I don't mention the tactical tupperware that I have either.

In mixed company that I don't know, they don't come up. I don't know who / how someone will react. With friends, I will sometimes break out some of my collection and show them what I have, but that's rare these days as just getting some of the stuff back into the safes is a chore.

Only a select few know i own, maybe 6-7 people. Not because i worry about hurting some liberals feelings or i am ashamed. I dont advertise because if a hurricane or some other shtf scenario comes along, i dont want everyone coming to me for protection.

i make no real effort to hide it. all of my coworkers know i'm the "gun guy" at work. i wear an NRA hat and had a sticker on my car until i traded it in. my college pothead neighbors found out when my wife pulled a gun on one of their high-as-a-kite friends who insisted our house was "kenny's house" even after i told him 8 times that it was my house and he need to get the hell off my porch and his car outta my driveway (at midnight-thirty). the upside there is that now they're terrified of us and the late night partying has stopped. :)

in other words, pretty much everyone knows. hasn't been a problem. i have a safe and four dogs, two of which are particularly intimidating.

My close friends know what kind and how many.

My immediate family knows I own a few, but not how many or what kind.

Anyone else can bug off, I don't want unneccesary attention.
