Do you carry a full sized firearm?

I was wondering who does this every day or almost everyday. By full sized, I mean any gun around the size of a Glock 17/22, SIG P226, HK USP, Berretta 92, 1911 etc.

I recently purchased a Glock 22 that I am probably going to CCW often (I can conceal it easily under just a T-shirt with the exception of a thin / tight shirt, especially white).

I was just curious as to what the general trend is of those who carry full sized firearms regularly as well as their general body type (height, build etc).

My poll only includes height, but anything would be great.

I myself am 6'2" and have a pretty average build (not fat, not super skinny).

Also, for added discussion, what do you carry?

Also, if not, what is your height and build?

I carry an XDm 3.8 9mm with the full-size grip/19 round mag. It's 5.75" high, almost exactly the same height as a Glock 17 or Glock 22.

I'm 5'9" and 142 lbs. I use the paddle holster that came with the gun. Tried Comp-Tac and Blade-Tech and didn't like them.

Nope. I'm 5' 10" 220 (fatter than I should be) and I pocket carry a Kahr PM9 in my right front pocket and two 7 round mags. Weather (Texas) and dress requirements make it impractical to carry a full-size gun most of the time. If I could wear a baggy bowling shirt or Hawaiian shirt un-tucked everywhere I went, I can see carrying a full size gun.

I think the carriers build has much more importance than their height. I'm only 5'5" but I have very wide shoulders and am pretty slim at the waist (Size 40 jacket and 28" waist. I definately have to buy suit seperates!), so when I blouse my shirt a bit with a tuckable holster, I can carry pretty much anything. I carry a full size Sprinfield TRP Full-rail Operator, or a Beretta 96 at times like that with no printing.

I'll agree that build is very important. I included height in the poll because it would be much harder to make a poll on build as there are many different possibilities.

But my build is similar to you in that I have very broad shoulders which is probably why concealing a Glock 22 and a SIG P228 isn't really as hard for me as it apparently is for some others.

I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 200 pounds. Could I carry a full sized gun and go unnoticed?...probably. I choose to carry a Dan Wesson CCO in .45. The officer frame is large enough for me to have a positive purchase and the Commander slide is perfect for me as far as sight picture and pointability. The aluminum frame is light and I can carry it IWB without having to hike my pants up all day long. The most important feature of this gun is that I can hit with it. The alternative is a S&W 642 when conditions are such that the CCO is a no go. Again, a smaller gun that I can easily handle and that will serve me well. These are choices that I have made for myself but would say that these choices may not be right for you. Pick the gun that makes you comfortable and that you can handle well.

Ive carried full size guns pretty much every day, my whole life, fat, skinny, in between, and Im not all that big, 5-6, 170 pounds. Never had a problem doing it.

Ive never understood all the complaints about how hard its supposed to be. Its really not, but these days, the "little" guns seem to be all the rage. Hey, whatever. Carry what you want and works best for you. Personally, I think the choice should be made for you, by what you shoot the best. Once thats solved, then you figure out a way to carry it.

The key word here is "want". If you want to, you'll figure it out. "Cant" simply means, you dont "want" to. ;)

I'm 5'7 125 lbs. and I CCW a couple of full sized 1911s (but they've since been displaced by my Wilson Combat CQB Compact) with no issues. The trick to carrying any weapon is a good holster and equally, if not more important, a good gun belt.

I carry a G22 on my job and a G17/ CZ75B off the job (I dont care for .40's) . The fullsize pistols just seem to shoot better and feel better so thats my $.02:)

6'2, 230 lbs. G19 is about as big as I go. I sometimes carry a full size M&P if i'm on a long trip mostly in the car.

My answer is that I sometimes carry a full sized pistol, a Glock 22. More often I carry either a Glock 26 or a Taurus 85CH .38. I'm 5'9", 175 lbs. but my choice of carry gun has nothing to do with how tall I am and everything to do with the clothing I am wearing at any particular time. And I've found that the length of the butt matters far more than barrel length where concealibility is concerned, especially with the behind-the-right hip IWB carry that I prefer.

I voted no. I can carry a fullsize when clothes will allow it, but I could never conceal a Beretta 92 under a light t-shirt. Under a t-shirt, it will be a Kahr PM9, Kel-Tec PF-9, etc.

5' 10" 175 and I belt holster carry a CZ PCR 3.9" barrel or a SIG RCS commander length 1911 on an officer size frame. No fullsize CCW for me, rarely carry a subcompact, compact pistols at most defensive distances are plenty of gun for the job I hope. BUT and a big BUT it is, if I could hide a fullsize in a belt holster under "normal" clothing I probably would, BUT I can't so I don't.

My current gun the last owner sold to me was calling it a brick when it doesn't bother me one bit.

I have carried the CZ Sp-01 Phantom under some BIG t-shirts, but need a good rig to make it right, as I am using holsters not quite made for it. I do like the longer barrel and 18 rounds to have on tap if need be. if not, the P-01 hides quite well in an HBE rig, and that has 15 round plus Crimson Trace Lasergrips.

colt 1911

i carry a colt xse 5 inch goverment in a crossbreed holster with a shirt that was made not to be tucked in. Works well 95% of the time , when that does'nt work I use a s&w 380 bodyguard.

got a P95, love it, but really too big for CCW, more a glove compartment gun, looking for pocket pistol, or maybe the bersa 380, I like that gun

I'm 5'10", about 170 lbs, medium build. I usually carry Commander and Officers Model sized semi-autos in the M1911 category, typically in .45ACP. In 9mm., I have a Ruger SR9c and a CZ P-01.

I'm 6'3", 245, and my usual carry is a SA 1911 full size, with an officer size that gets rotated in on occasion. I have found that either carries quite well IWB just behind my right hip.
I do carry an LCP on occasion, but usually only when I anticipate issues with keeping a bigger gun concealed.
The one I havent found a way to conceal yet is my superblackhawk, but it usually only comes out for walking fences on the farm and hunting season.

I typically carry the more compact variation of a full size, or what I would call a "service" size sidearm. I am talking about the slightly smaller, little brothers of these pistols, like the Colt Commander, CZ PCR, G19, Sig P228, etc. These guns are oftened carried in a "service" role, just a tad smaller and easier to carry, so I chose....NO.
