Do you feel more sentimental towards metal guns?

I currently own over 40 firearms after thinning the herd from twice that number recently. There's only 2 I could say I'm emotionally attached to. Also, have had them the longest. Colt Government Model 1911 and a Browing BSS 12 Gauge.

With the exception of my TRR8 that I pawned recently (and plan on getting back very soon), a Rock Island 206 that I pawned for good after a botched RMA turned me off, and a Beretta 51 I gave to an old manager...I have a hard time separating from my metal guns. You could also include some cheap off brand relics from dead companies I've bought and sold along the way but I think you get the point here. I have a hard time separating from GOOD metal handguns. I don't like separating from any firearms but it's always been so much easier for me to let polymer guns go. I don't get why. I love them just as much at first. I think a lot of them are better guns in general. I find that a lot of the name brand polymer guns feel more solid and well built to me than most metal guns...and yes I know how dumb that sounds. For whatever reason though...damn I just can't let these three go.

Definitely, the steel guns will last a lifetime, probably several lifetimes, the plastic guns, probably not. There is a need for the plastic guns, CCW or LE, they are much lighter to carry. But my choice is steel! B448B978-0524-45A0-9B4C-43D282FE9880.jpeg

My dad was not a "gunner"... He flew jets in Korea and Vietnam but never really was yes or now on guns... His dad was a marine in the Pacific during WWII... He was... And the few they passed down to me are metal... And they still look and function good... I will always like metal over plastic personally... And stainless even more... I do have plastics but am not sure they'll be around in great workable shape when they're handed down to my great grand kids... IMHO... maybe someday when looking down from above (God forbid from below) I'll stand corrected...

I'm attempting to be detached from all material possessions
I became an adherent to that philosophy a number of years ago. I attempted to lead as Spartan a life as possible. Got rid of everything I considered superfluous: furniture, clothes, possessions, wife, etc...Visitors to my house often ask when I am going to furnish the place and my Mother asks why I want to live in a house that looks like a motel room, devoid of personal possessions.

However, I have always hung onto three things: my numerous cats, my plethora of fishing gear, and my firearms. And the older I get the more I appreciate steel and wood and never plan to own another plastic handgun. I still have a Glock 43 and 36 which are soon to leave the compound in favor of a couple nice 1911 carry guns.
