This is mainly aimed at non-CCW holders, but others are welcome to chime in. I just figure non-CCW holders have less need to purchase holsters.

Do you have a holster for your house gun? What about all the other handguns in your possesion? After how many handgun-holster combos do you think is enough? (let's say you have 20 guns, then you would probably only need 7-10 holsters for 12 guns)

I have holsters for most of my guns.

However, some are covered under 'universal holsters' like Yaki slides.

And then I have a couple 'Non carry guns' like a 1917 that I just have 'for the collection' and such.
-No holster for it... I think, I'd have to check my 'holster box'.

I have SEVERAL holster types for the pistols I actually CCW...

This Question is too general as some people have 12 1911's, and others have one example of each type of pistol, others have 50+ pistols...

So I'll address the 1911's:
Yaki slide
OWB
IWB
Drop leg
I have an old Shoulder holster... one of the chepo uncle mikes... Havn't used it in 9-10 years. I don't like shoulder rigs.

-Not necessarely just one of each type ether.

the only holsters I own are leather speed rigs for my 1911 and Vaquero. Being a fine upstanding MD resident I am not extended the noble privelage of a CHL, so competition, collecting and a gun-safe filler are about all I can use holsters for. Now most of my long guns have slings, I don't carry them with the slings, but most are mil-surps, so the original slings are there, and a sling can be used to aid hold at the range, but draw from holsters during "practice" is not allowed at any of the 4 local ranges I use.

Pretty much . . . have them for everything I carry & several to fit the 1911 frame. I am running out of drawer space to keep them in, however . . .

I have several holsters for my carry gun - which fit its understudies and a couple of game or range holsters as well. A couple of field holsters for a magnum revolver.

On the other hand I have a S&W model 31 I'd consider a pocket pistol for the field - plinking and waiting for the next Blacktail Jack boom (long wait) - and such that don't have holsters. Though I'd buy the right holster if I ran across it cheap.

Then too a nice Pachmayr box and a range bag fill the need for something to carry a pistol in.

More holsters than pistols make sense to me because I try to keep a couple of different colors for daily carry and alternate them.

No. I have a Milt Sparks leather holster for my CCW piece and kydex beltslides for my G17 and XD9. The rest of my guns are just range shooters and get hauled around in a handgun case.

In addition to the holsters that are used I have an HP Printer box full of all kinds of extras. Many holsters that look like they are going to work don't, so I toss them in the box and then try something else.

I have more holsters than I have handguns, but it's basically what Sistema said,I have a box full, and if I had the time to check it out,I bet I have holsters that won't fit anything I have, but I thought they'd be awesome when I bought them...

i bought a biachi ranger belt and holster set for my model 27 right after i bought it........ the wifes colt snubbie still lives in the holster her dad carried it in when he was a cop here in town...........

Yes they all have at least one dedicated holster and some have several depending on the intended carry method and use.

No as there is no reason for having a holster for a house gun, or a target gun as I will Never carry either.

yes. I only have one pistol right now, however everyone i get will have a holster. I hope to ccw where legal soon and also, when i am in illinois and we are shooting, we cover lots of ground and i like to not have my hands full, or leave my gun at the truck.

but shotguns look funny in holsters, so i guess my answer is really no. :)

Got holsters for what I carry/plan to carry. Got some cheapies uncle mike's kydex stuff for what I don't carry often (P226 DAK and Kimber). Got good leather, kydex and even custom work for what I do carry often (P7M8 and G34). I have several holsters that don't get worn to often for my carry guns, but I do occasionally usem them for special needs. Galco Cop slide for when I need a thumbsnap for court or what not off duty, Don Hume OWB avenger style holster for when I'm carrying under a suit jacket. Hofner IWB for when I want a full size pistol with minimum printing. Comptac CTAC for the P7 when I really want to go under cover with the shirt tucked even.

Everything I own I have a holster for. A holster is one of the first things I acquire. For most it's just an Uncle Mike's Sidekick utility grade holster. Not much point in getting anything better here in the People's State.

Only for ones I carry. I always seem to need one or two more than I have though.

The first thing I get after a pistol is a OWB holster, My 1911 has 4 holsters
My vaqero has 2 My MP s share 2 My beretta has one, the rest has one apeice

I don't have holsters for all my guns, because some of my guns are just range queens. The other thing is that I have yet to find a suitable gun belt that can fit around my fairly massive girth, so although I own a very nice Ross slide for my 1911, I never really use it. In a twisted way, I sort of appreciate this fact, because if I could, I have a feeling I would spend way more money than necessary on holsters...
