I probably hunt as many days a year as Ted Nugent.

Before you grill it, first you have to kill it!

The Spirit of the Wild be with you!

I own many firearms and use one or the other (depending on mood) to hunt deer. I don't get much time to go hunting and haven't been in a few seasons, but I use some for hunting. On the next deer hunt the smart choice would be my Remington 700 ADL in .243 with a 3-9x40 Leupold, but I would like the idea of bringing my M1A or winchester '94 in .30-.30.

It was hunting that got me into guns. My Dad (thanks Dad) taught me to shoot his 336 .30-30 when I was 13; my first hunting rifle. I own that rifle now and it stays in my truck. I owe alot to hunting and will never forget my childhood days in the woods with my Dad. IMO there is no better way a parent can invest thier time than to get a kid involved in the outdoors, hunting and fishing. It teaches independance, responsibility, and instills pride in accomplishment. Read my signature. God bless the outdoors of America !!

Nope. Basically, I'm not interested in hunting. I have no problem with hunting, but no real interest. I do think I should probably learn how, because I like to learn things and it could be useful. But as yet, no.

Owning guns and not hunting is like owning an Ipod and only using it for data storage.

Everyone should try hunting atleast once.

The only thing I hunt are deer, pheasant, quail, ducks, geese, turkeys, squirrels, groundhogs, doves, coons, crows, coyotes, fox, and wild hogs.

Hope to get to prarie dogs, elk, mulies, and antelope some day.

Dunno if you can count vermin like pigeons and rats.

I love guns and love to shoot, but I don't hunt. I feel that hunting is now as vital as it ever was to maintain the balance of nature now that people have killed off most predators and planted oceans of crops, and have all the respect in the world for those who do hunt. All this is reflected in the over population of deer in most places. However, I don't really have the time or the personal inclination to hunt.

Nah, I don't hunt. My guns are all for target shooting, historical interest and self defense.

Personally, I don't think I'd like hunting. I used to fish a little just to get fresh fish. I hated cleaning them and didn't find it worth the trouble. I think I'd hate cleaning game even more. I'm not too keen on killing things actually although I have no problem with anyone else doing it to get meat or for protection of themselves or livestock or population control. Hunting "just for sport" and no other reason bothers me a bit though, killing something just because you can.

Guess I'm just not much of a predator.

Hunting seems to be one of those activities that one needs to grow up with to be really participate in later in life. Either due to parents or geographical circumstances, it just isn't economical for a lot of people to learn how to hunt at any early age. I for one, besides the standard rabbits and squirrels with my pellet gun way back when, wouldn't know the first thing to do if I decided to go hunting one year.

Not really into hunting at the moment. No problems with it, and I enjoy it, but it just isn't on my list of priorities. Maybe in a few years again.

I shot one duck and decided I didn't like the taste. Killed about a dozen rats with my pellet gun. Didn't eat those. I believe in eating what you kill. I don't like the taste of most game, therefore, I don't hunt. Kudos to you all that do. Looks fun. Since I wouldn't shoot anything it would end up as a long walk in the woods.

Posted: No hunting....please ;-)

Love guns, love animals = No hunting

Come to think of it, I would hunt down 2 legged predators and 2 legged varmints, but that's it, all other animals of the world need not worry.

With the political atmosphere the way it is today, one would well be served to know how to hunt.

It teaches self-control and independence. It also teaches self-reliance and education. To hunt you need to know your game, how it survives, the best locations to find this game, how will it react when spooked or wounded, how to pursue it and stalk it, what parts are edible, how to prepare the game for transportation and eventual consumption.

Hunting teaches survival. If TSHTF, being able to hunt may dictate whether or not your family name continues to be passed down. You may be able to defend your "Castle" from intruders, but without being able to secure food after a catastrophe things can be very uncomfortable.

Hunting in a nutshell.

Yup

Every chance I get, with gun, bow, muzzleloader.....

Of course, being born in Alaska to a DownEast Dad (from Maine) and an Eskimo Mom may have had a slight influence on my childhood hobbies... :neener:

No.

Last time I hunted was on my ground many years ago. I had the scope sighted in on three or four deer about 200 yards away. I couldn't miss.
I thought this isn't hunting. This is just harvesting and I don't need the meat.

I'd rather watch the animals than shoot them.

Nothing against hunting, it's just not my thing.

My Daddy got me into hunting when I was a kid. Now, I'm the one of us that has the most time to go out there. I have this old Winchester .30-30 I've bragged on a lot on this board... that's my deer rifle as well as being my match lead bullet rifle. It eats anything I feed it, jacketed or lead, and put 'em right where I want 'em.

Huntin' ain't for everybody. Some folks are too squeamish about killin'. But, as was mentioned, you hafta kill it before you can grill it.
