I bought a WASR-10 this weekend and have just had it sitting in the corner of my apartment bedroom to look at. I was very excited to get it and I can't take my eyes off of it. Do you keep all your guns locked up at home or do you keep one or 2 of them out to gander at?

Poll in a second

I don't keep any of them out just to look at ( although I do have one 1911 that I occasionally take of the safe to fondle) . We have one BUG in the basement everything else is carried or in the safe.

I voted that I keep them all locked up. That needs clarification.

All of my handguns, rifles, shotguns, etc. are in various safes in the house when not in use. Personal defense handguns are either on my hip or in a lock box in my bedroom. The lock boxes have digital keys with big button for quick and easy opening.

All long guns except for one home defense weapon are in a safe and I keep a handgun on me most of the time at home.

Most are locked up, unloaded. Most of the time.

One is kept in a locked GunVault, loaded, and accessable within seconds. Also a box of buckshot loads for the unloaded shotgun is in there. (So in theory, the .357 lets me fight my way to the 12 guage.)

Most of the others are kept locked in two low-end RSC/storage cabinets. They are unloaded.

One muzzleloader (my Parker-Hale Three Band- now you know!) is hanging high on the wall, in a nice pair of Ted Cash gun hooks. It won't fit in a safe, and I figure it has very low potential for abuse. Besides, I like to look at it.
I voted number 4 above, based on that.

Currently, my Lyman Great Plains rifle, (muzzleloader) is leaning in a corner. I'm about out of room in my "safes", it has little potential for crime or abuse, and if a burgler wants to load himself down with muzzleloaders, maybe he'll leave the good stuff alone.

Sometimes a milsurp is on the workbench in pieces, though I always lock up the barrelled action at least. Always at night or if no one's home.

I carry at home so there's always a handgun out of the safe. I also keep a shotgun out of the safe when I'm at home. It's kept chamber empty and my kids aren't old enough or big enough to chamber it. That will change as they grow older, but for now it suits my comfort level.

Do you mean when the owner is at home or also when he/she is away from home? Or both?

Not a good idea to leave guns unsecured when no one's home.

We have no children of our own in the house, so there are weapons here and there which are kept loaded concealed in several strategic locations in our home.

On the occasion where we have visitors or relatives, with or without children, on holiday or other visits these are generally unloaded and moved to the safe or locked away elsewhere. The only loaded weapon easily accessable will be the one on my person.

When we are to be absent from our home for any period more than a couple of hours, they are moved to the safe. We have good, vigilant neighbors close by and a monitored alarm system but I'd rather do the work than gamble with the possible consequences.

Leading Question. Answers to questions like this can come back and bite you in the butt.

Everything locked up. I have an electronic safe for my loaded handguns bolted inside my nightstand. It's got a telephone keypad for entry, but I'm considering getting one with a fingerprint reader instead. Easier to lay your finger on a pad in the dark, and have it pop open.

I voted that one or two are out. But really it depends on whats going on and what day of the week it is.

By sunday afternoon there may be a half dozen sitting around the basement. Just depends on what got shot From Friday through Sunday and if any need cleaning.

I am working on conditioning the grandkids to guns. I leave them laying around and really they do not pay any attention to them. Of course ammo is kept seperate and the only loaded one is on my belt.

really they do not even pay them any mind. Accept to ask if it is time to go shooting. And Yes is almost always the answer that question

Only the carry guns are out of the safe when not going to/from the range. Safe is over-flowing so my bolt guns are in a rack with a cable lock thru the trigger guards, the bolts are removed and locked in the safe.

Don't have kids, nothing would be different if I did. Have a couple of black powder guns as wall hangers.

i keep my .50 muzzleloader, .22 stevens and .308 rifle in the safe, the onlygun out is the stevens 67 12 gauge and thats next to my bad unloaded with buckshot next to it

I have no safe, no kids, and no guns "hanging from my walls" even though I picked #4. Right now, I keep the long guns in long gun cases, the pistols in their cases in a non-descript bag on a shelf in my closet. My carry/HD pistol is always loaded, either under my pillow (when I'm not home; I'm military, so I can't even leave it in my car at work) or on the bedside table when I'm sleeping. I'm also on temporary orders right now, so even if I owned a safe, it wouldn't be with me right now since I'm only here for a few months.

While awake at home, I pocket carry a Glock 27.

Just before sleeping, I prop up a shotgun next to my bed.

Otherwise, all other guns are locked in the safe.

I keep my guns in my safe, but the safe is unlocked when I'm home, as I don't have small children to worry about getting into it. The safe only gets locked when I leave the house.

You mean you haven't head about the popularity of side locks for drive-by's

I keep everything locked up except mine and my wifes carry pieces. One thing though when I'm not carrying if I leave my pistol on the counter or something. My 2 little girls have no interest in them.... My girls know what firearms are and aren't curious about them so I have no worries about them messing with it....:what:
