Generally,
I'd say I like 'em. Granted I don't have any revolvers with barrels longer than 4". I think for a 6"+ revolver it'd be too much. BUT on the other hand I think the 3" full underlug on the S&W 65LS is perfection!

I very much dislike them and I am cutting the underlug off my 586 tonight. That is if I do not go on call or I forget to take my grinder home.

Any suggections or recommendations on how far to cut back, I figure just shy of the lock pin hole.

I am doing a little at a time and I have about 2/5 of the lug in front of the front latch ground away. I just have a small bench grinder so it will not heat the barrel to much cause it does not take off much at a time.

Here is how it looks now

I am still trying to deside how to finish the front of the under lug.

Full lugs are enough to keep me away from Colt Pythons and Cobras.

Gimme my Smiths!

I don't get too spun up about them one way or the other.

I prefer a tapered barrel from an aesthetic standpoint, but I don't find a heavy or full-underlugged barrel particularly hideous or anything.

What I really can't stand on a wheelgun is a vented rib. :uhoh:

Don't really like 'em. I still can't figure out why SW calls the 629 Classic the "Classic" It seems to me the 1/2 underlug is more of a classic Smith look. Maybe they are just trying to say that the Colt is the true Classic?

Perfessr - Now that gun looks just right. Good job.

No, I don't like full lugs.
Wish the Taurus Trackers didn't have them, but I can see the use on the Raging Bulls.

Yes.
I think they have a very clean, rugged, finished look to them.
I believe I only own two, but I like the look.

Considering the only revolver I've ever owned is my 4" 586, I'd say it works very well on that particular model and looks darn good to boot. I can see where a longer barrel would be muzzle heavy, though.
