Do You Like To Clean..........

In general yes especially those that have easy breach access. Example I Love to clean my Marlin 94, my Winchester 94 a PITA to remove bolt, not my fav to clean properly from breach. I'm one of them weirdos that likes the smell of HOPPE'S No. 9. :D

get your butt over to a sporting good store and get a big 16 oz jar of that stuffs for 10 bucks.

i only use it when i have those super thick rubber gloves, thick mask, and a fan to blow the smell away. oh yeah, the smell is almost not there with the fan.

weirdo :D

But usually I spread out in front of the TV, put a good movie on, and take my time. It's both relaxing and reassuring to me as I not only make sure everything's properly cleaned and lubed, but also refamiliarize myself with how everything comes apart, goes together, and works in general. It's a zen thing. To become one with each gun for a brief time.

I'm the same way. I'll detail strip my guns every so often and study the parts while I'm cleaning them. I like to figure out how everything works in relation to the other parts, and how each part moves as the action cycles. Cleaning is the best way to get to know your guns. And when you know your guns, you know what's wrong when they're not happy.

It's not something I particularily love to do, but not something I despize either. I try to avoid over-cleaning, so I clean relatively sparingly, usually a general whipe down and oil (so little actually sticks on to anything these days.
My Remington needs cleaning, though I don't think my Glock ever actually does need to be cleaned at all in all honestly.

The smell of CLP is kinda nice in a Freedom Insurance sort of way.

Cleaning IS fun as hell to do with a group of your shooting buddies after a range trip though! Nice, relaxing, and good chance to reminisce about all the crap you shot earlier in the day...

Just don't try to put your buddy's Sig 239 barrel back into your G34 ;D

When everyone helps, sure it's easy.

When they don't it's a bear.

Saturday dad and I mixed up a gallon of Ed's red.. Sunday we went to the range.

We got home around 2pm... I started cleaning at around 4 or 5.. didn't finish until 8. We had six shooters, lots of guns and only ONE cleaner (me).

Marlin 39A .22 (300+rds fired)
Colt Gov't Model .45 (100rds fired)
Colt Gov't model .380 (50 rds.. plus an extra 15 minutes fixing reversed sear thingy..lord what a pain)
FEG Hi-Power 9mm (200rds fired)
Mauserwerk (42) Luger (50rds)
Colt 1908 vest pocket psitol (50 rds, add 5-10 minutes for re-assembly with slippery fingers and new springs)
Ruger Mk 1 target .22 (100rds)
Ruger Mk 2 target (100rds)
Ruger Mk4 std (200 rds)
Ruger Blackhawk (100rds)
Colt Magnum Carry (50 rds)
Colt Commander 45 (50rds)

Blah.. I was pooped. But I try to be good and clean them right away. And everyone had a good time.

Cleaning is no big deal...when I do clean that is.

I cheat a lot. I hand my gun to my smith buddy, he inspects /maintains/springs and such and cleans. ME...I'm out back shooting one his guns getting another one dirty. I kinda like this arrangement myself. :p

It is the least I can do since I also get him to do metallic reloading as well...I buy lunch real well tho'...

Work smarter - not harder I always say

I can't say that I actually enjoy cleaning my guns after a session at the range, but once I have it all laid out and and actually begin the process I tend to get very detailed in my task and the time just flies by.

I don't mind cleaning too much..although I do wait longer to clean than I used too......I used to clean my handguns after every time out....no matter how many rounds fired...now I wait for at least 200 rounds.....I don't like cleaning my revolver as much as my autos.....I have thing about the cylinders...I NEED them to be spotless,so much elbow grease is needed....other than that as long as I have the time ,I don't mind cleaning....the wife hates the smell of Shooter's choice tho.......Breakfree is ok with her tho,so I use that mostly(domestic tranquility and all)

wow...u clean all these guns

this is a lot of cleaning. have you ever considered being the professional armorer for the state police or have your own little contracting firm specialize in gun maintaining.

with that many guns, you can pull a standoff easily.

I liked cleaning when I had my USP but really dislike it on my Beretta and P7. I also kinda liked doing it to the 1911.

Not sure if that's because I was new to guns then so it was still fun, or that I moved and since have not had much counter space to do it on. Or the Beretta and P7 are just a pain for me to clean.

I actually enjoy cleaning guns. It give me the satisfaction of seeing my money shine. I think of it as this; each time I clean a gun, I just gain back 50 cents of the purchase price. Shooting it will be 5 dollars since it cost about 10 to rent one anyway. I should make even in 100 sessions.

One thing I hate about cleaning is when I have friends going a long and they have no guns. I'll end up with 8 guns to clean. That usually takes 5 hours on day 1 and 2 hours on the next 2 days. A good thing is that Speedvision is on a lot, so I can actually enjoy 2 things at one.

I rarely clean everything I shoot in the same day. It's a lot less stressfull for me to clean them as I find the time and motivation...and it gives me a nightly break from whatever I'm doing. It will become a chore if you let it. Overall though...I enjoy it.

Haha didn't even make a dent in the safe.

And it's funny.. but Sunday afternoon and the smell of Hoppes #9 and pancakes are one of my earliest memories.

I always have the motivation to clean guns. It is time that I don't really have because of my overdoer attitude. I clean them way too much and way too slow. If I clean one gun, it will takes me 3 hours easily to complete it. There are just way too many processes to be completed. It is better to clean 5 guns or more because I can do them in parrallel.

I just acquire a new bottle of Hoppe #9. I haven't even finish the last bottle. 16 oz of pespi last me 1 minutes, but the same quantity of Hoppe could last me zillion clean sessions. I wonder if anyone ever finish one bottle. I may have to resort to "dunk it" method to increase efficient, decrease health, and reduce cleaning time.
