do you name your guns?

I agree that naming inanimate objects, unless a name is required such as for a boat, is silly at best and sad. I wonder if people who name objects are just lacking in real human relationships and thus need to attempt a relationship with a non-judgmental, non-responsive, non-critical object that they can control. Just a thought.
Sometimes it's just fun. Just sayin'. It's not like anyone is looking through baby name books or anything.

All of mine came with names of their own. Smith, Colt, Winchester, Ruger, Browning, Remington...

No.....we name the kids and the pets, but giving a human designation to an inanimate object is anthropomorphism.

Some of mine have the same name:
#$%^@ Son of a %#$@# Piece of $#!&
It's a long name bit it's easy to remember under stress. ;)

I used to name mine but I quit when they stopped coming to me when I called them. Yeah... they're ungrateful wretches but I love 'em anyway. At least they don't shed like my lazy dog.

I never named a rifle but a late close friend of mine had an old pre-64 Mod 70 rifle in 30-06 he called "Old Meat in the Pot." He was a one rifle hunter and die hard elk and deer hunter. He hunted all over the US, Canada, and Alaska. I know he shot over 50 elk and well over 100 or maybe 200 deer.

When I was in the Army my platoon named my sniper rifle "Smoke." It was a pre-64 Mod 70 Feartherweight in .308 with a Unertl scope. It was the only sniper rifle I saw in a Featherweight as most were the rifle model. The Army kept trying to make me switch to the new Remington but I was always able to talk them into letting me keep the Winchester.

My Baikal 12ga coach gun is named "Pop" because it was my grandfather's and it was one of the guns he left me. The Colt 70 series 1911 was named "Moses" by my grandfather and it keeps that name with me. He said that he was approached and cornered by a large group of people that demanded his money, he drew the Colt and they parted just like the red sea, he always used to chuckle telling that one. So he named it "Moses" in honor of its capabilities. The last gun he left me is a copy of a Mauser c/96 that is in a language I can't read and haven't put much effort into finding its exact origins, its name is "Solo".

My other guns that I've purchased have their own names.

Marlin 45-70 guide gun-Leroy Brown

Mosin Nagant 91/30-Voin

Mossberg 590a1-Charlene

Savage Axis in .308-Bob

I sure do name them.

First Browning Hi-Power is called Number One. In honor of Stephen Camp and his first BHP.

My .22 my Dad gave me is "The 22".

Not to imaginative names, I know.

I have been asking what to name my last purchase. So for the name is very politically incorrect and I will not mention it. :)

My Sig 556 I called Lilith.
My Sig P238 I called the Jaminator.
My PPK/S is called Bond, James Bond.

My second BHP is called "The Nice One" because it has nice sights.

For some reason everyone gets a kick out of calling the SCAR the F N (effin) SCAR... why is that so funny? ;)

Er, no...it's an inanimate object, that would be silly. I don't name any other inanimate objects so why would I name a firearm. Maybe some of you do it because you saw some guy in a movie do it or something, LOL.

I used to but I had to stop. My shotgun, Jezebel, gets jealous.
