It's interesting to see that the results of this poll are actually quite different than the results of the AR poll. Maybe AKs aren't as widespread. I know that I definitely don't see a lot around here, but I thought it was just a Connecticut thing.

Interesting, yes. But not all that surprising to me.

I've got one AK type, but wound up with three AR15 variants. The MAK90 has been very reliable, and is handy to pack and carry, but difficult to scope well, and not even close to as accurate as the ARs. I mainly keep it because it's fun to shoot, and I still have a bunch of cheap surplus 7.62x39 ammo around to use in it.

I have a converted Saiga and a Romanian. The next AK I get will be a Draco SBR. I will probably get an AR before that and it would be my first.

Not all that surprising really. You don't see a lot of AKs around in general. I went to a gunstore one time that advertised 3,500+ guns in stock. They literally had several hundred ARs in a square rack in the very center of the showroom. I think there were maybe 2 AKs and a Saiga. They just really aren't out there for people to buy.

No, but I have an SKS with a Tech Sight.

The only AK clone that really interests me is the older type with a wooden stock (non WASR type) and most of the bluing missing.
These have the looks of actual battle rifles seen on news shows.

For what it's worth, I'll never buy a semi-auto assembled by Century.

I used to have a fine early Romanian import. But I haven't had one in the classic pattern for ages. I haven't been all that impressed with some of the frakenrifles getting imported. If I were to get one again I'd get an Arsenal or other nicer brand.

I think it's because people like making an AR their own through modification. It's REALLY easy to do with ARs. Buy part, pull old part off, put new part on. It takes 5 minutes. It's significantly harder with AKs and there are a lot less available options.

No and Not in the Market.

I had one, it worked fine, but I sold it and have no plan to buy another.
I much prefer the SKS in its as issued form.

I had Daewoo K2 and can give it very good marks. It used AK long piston operation and accepted M16 magazines. The sights were superior to the AK and folding stock was the best I have ever seen. The gun was KOOL because it was exact same gun as military one except safety did not have burst or auto-fire selecting capability. I have no interest in paramilitary S/A rifles anymore.

Wow 33 people voted "No, and I do not want one". I don't trust thous 33 people.

Yeah, but that is only 22% of respondents.
And we know those are all the rabidly Pro AR trolls :neener:

I own both AR & AK platforms.
Both have proven themselves sturdy, reliable and accurate well within Minute of Man out to 300 yards.

WASR-10 i bought back in 09 for $450, it's a 1971 czech receiver demilled. I assume that the barrel is the same as the receiver, I have a ak-74 muzzle break and a side folding stock with some polymer furniture and a stubby grip so I can load 40 rounders (somewhat) cleanly.

It is fun to plink, it will certainly take anything you feel like feeding it and the sight of shooting it at night rapid fire is something to behold; also mine shoots the casings out about 20 yards.

It's a fun gun, I would trust it up to maybe 50-75 yards; follow ups and double taps are harder than with an ar, I don't care what someone else has to say about it, they are. If you plan on doing competition you are putting yourself at a disadvantage, but they are definately rewarding to shoot, flashers at 100 yards move almost as much as a .308.

That being said I wouldn't buy another AK, you have to think that by the end of the vietnam war the russians had ditched the 7.62X39 for the 5.45X39, despite what was said about our 5.56 and how the AK round was so much more effective.

Bullet size is not the determining factor it is shot placement, I was shot in the calf nearly point blank with a .357 hollowpoint and I walked down to the paramedics.

I'm more of an AR guy. I have an AK-47 & would like to own an AK-74 one day.
