DOB Smith M36 (or calling Old Fuff please)

A friend in Virginia just graduated the police academy, and as a gift his mother in law gave him her late husbands M36 Chiefs Special. Serial # AFK48XX. Can someone with more Knowlege than me give me a DOB please? Thanks everyone!

Well the Old Fuff is here, but Brian beat me to the draw. All I can add is that it would be a 36-1, if it has a 3" barrel. In any case its a nice gun, but avoid shooting too much +P ammunition.
