Does anybody know anything about the Hammerli X-esse?

I was over at Larry's Guns looking at replacement Pardini grips, and I saw that Hammerli has
released a new pistol at a surprisingly low price point, especially given the state of the dollar. It almost looks like its meant to compete with the S&W Model 41. The model without the target grips is priced a couple hundred under a new 41, which would finally add another plinking pistol option for people like me who aren't big fans of the oft-recommended Ruger and Browning offerings. Does anybody know anything about these guns?

Just the old SiG Trailside with a different brand...shoots well, but I prefer Ruger MKII's myself...

This is NOT competition for a Smith & Wesson Model 41.

The black X-ESSE grips are great. I had a 4" Trailside with them and liked it much better than the stock SiG plastic grips.

Nice gun, but sold mine...there are better...

I have not tried one, but they do actually have a very good reputation with the international pistol crowd. Many/most recommend them above the S&W 41 for an "entry level" international sport pistol.

I know they wanted $100.00 for the grips alone.

I think those are MSRP's, and since he apparently bought the Hammerli rights, Larry likely doesn't cut any deals on them...
