https://www.dixiegunworks.com/index...FS3031+PEDERSOLI+SCOUT+SHOTGUN+FLINT+12+GAUGE I really like this shotgun and I can afford this one much easier! so the deal is this shotgun does not come with or provisions for a ramrod as I called them to confirm, so my question is does anyone own this shotgun and your thoughts as to can a ramrod be made to work on this and with a thimble to help hold the ramrod in place? so guys please help advise?? thanks!

It looks to me like you would need to solder an under rib to the bottom of the barrel and attach the ram rod pipes to that. You would then need to drill a long hole into the stock, or just drill through the nose piece and a short way into the stock, and then use a router to cut the rest of the ram rod channel into the stock under the barrel. Could it be done? Yes, but I think it will be a lot of work.

Seems kinda silly to sell a flintlock shotgun without a ramrod. I believe there are some solder on ramrod pipes available I just don't remember where. If not one could make a wooden under rib and attach thimbles to it. Still gotta drill the foreend.

I was debating whether or not to post this because I'm a lazy person, at times. I have a 10ga Navy Arms SxS I'd sell for $400 + shipping if you're interested. There aren't any nicks in the wood, but I have browned the barrels. I took it turkey hunting once maybe 15 years ago and it's sat in my gun closet ever since. 003.JPG I live in Michigan, so we're not too far apart. I just hate the thought of making a box for shipping it. It already has a ram rod and cheaper than the one you're looking at.

I did post one pic - click on it to make it bigger. If you want more close ups I can do that. Here's a couple more. There's still nice 100% CC on the locks. 001.JPG Put the last one in just so you could see it had a ramrod.

Track sells a black synthetic ramrod. I have 2 I have used for years with no problems. It is the only modern thing I put on my muzzleloaders. Been very happy with them. They don't break, they are flexible, and they won't damage the muzzle.

After looking at the pics I think a guy could make a combo barrel band/ramrod thimble that would work.

No, I'm not on utube. Years back, they use to sell fiberglass ramrods. They would pick up dirt and grim and would wear out the muzzle. I don't think they sell them anymore. Would a synthetic one do the same thing ? I've always stuck to wood rods.

The ones I use are made of a material called denalin or something like that. They are very tough and don't attract dirt that I've noticed. I've been very satisfied with them. They don't shed like fiberglass does.

I was just a thought. I like wood and steel in my carry handguns, like a 1911 - not the new plastic. With muzzle loaders - hammerguns and wood stocks, not inlines and plastic. Cartridge shotguns, SxS hammerguns with Damascus barrels, not autos or O/U. Also longbows, not wheelie things. The two deer I shot I'll remember the most is one I shot with my homemade matchlock, and my homemade Osage self bow with my string and flint tipped cedar arrow. Only thing I didn't make was the flint tip. Kind a like the way things use to be done.

To each his own I guess. I would rather have the synthetic rod and not be fubared because of a broken wooden ramrod. But that's just me and everyone who knows me knows I'm a dick.

well everyone paul and I are engaged in a sale as I am buying his 10 gauge double barrel bp shotgun so looking forward to good business with paul :)

hey guys paul is a great guy this shotgun is really nice and also I just took it out shooting this evening and wow she's a fine shotgun so here I come this fall/winter time chasing game!! :)

What kind of loads are you using ?
well I started out using the same loads I run in my h&r huntsman 12 gauge inline bp shotgun which is anywhere from 7/8oz with 70grs 2f powder and up to 2oz with 100grs of 2f powder in which this heavy load made and excellent load on cardboard for turkey! and the smaller ones like 1 1/4oz of shot and 80grs of 2f powder for a great squirrel load!

Glad you got your gun. I was going to suggest one of the screw together shotgun cleaning rods for a ramrod. I have two of those and think they would have worked fine for the loading chore.

so if I may ask paul what loads do you like to use in your bp shotguns?
