I am thinking of buying a policy through one of their affiliates that is advertised on their website...along with some defensive shooting insurance. Is any of this worth it?
Insurance? Against having your guns stolen or damaged? It's your call.
The NRA provides some insurance in case of a freak shooting accident, but it's not that much if you need to support a family ($10,000 if you get shot in both of your legs or something, I recall). If you feel you need insurance against other things, the NRA usually gets pretty good discounts on that kind of stuff.
I think once you become a member, you automatically
qualify for up tp $300 worth of firearms insurance, in
case your guns get stolen? Grant it, $300 won't cover
much; but at least it will help!
Sounds like the NRA's program is pretty good. My renter's policy through USAA has a $6K gun rider for $120 for a year. For $6K rom the NRA it'd be $93. Assuming the NRA's is a yearly policy and that I did the math correctly ($1.55/$100=1.55x60). My policy includes $2K of gun coverage w/o the rider. Don't remember if it's $6K in addition to the $2K or if it's $6K total.
Besides, I'd rather send money to the NRA, or at least a place that supports them, for this stuff than I would to another company.
