to get him to headline a fund-raiser for our political action committee--the Wisconsin Concealed Carry Movement (WCCM)--the night before the big NRA convention here in Milwaukee?

I'm brainstorming ideas to raise as much money as possible to give to pro-gun candidates in the November elections. It's time to clean house.

If anyone has any contact info, please email me at [email protected]

Thanks.

I don't think it's such a good idea to bring more prominent people into the fiasco you have on your hands up there. Especially since the last event was cancelled due to fear of prosecution.

A good read

I clicked on the link and found this:
http://www.tednugent.com/salute.shtml
A couple of years old, but a good read.
It is a story of the singer with Toby Keith in a USO tour. I saw a USO tour.

When I was in RVN, I got to shake hands with Troy Donahue. He innocently asked "Seen any action around here?" Being young and not knowing this sort of saying meant "How are you, ok?", one of my men took this litterally and took him to where a dead NVA was still laying at the perimeter from a day ago. Once his PR people saw this, they formed a circle around Troy and acted like they were getting the POTUS out of the area after hearing "gun". Another time and place.
His bio reads, in part;

Honored on the floor of the U.S. Senate, 1994

He gives the Senate the respect it should deserve, but the next line reads:

Named Father of the Year at children's school Clearly one of his most prized awards.

I'll bet Uncle Ted would do this or support your cause.

I'd be suprised you could get him on such short notice. Celebrities have very full calendars, getting an available date that works for everyone is tough. These things need to be worked out six months to a year in advance....or more. Sometimes with high profile events they'll bump a lesser previous engagement.

If you contact him, ask him to run for president. The options are looking pretty grim so far.

A friend of mine was telling me that one of Nugent's cousins runs a bar somewhere near Wi Rapids. Nugent even attended one of the local SCA events (nothing fancy, he just wanted to check it out). If my friend can track the cousin down, we MIGHT be able to pull something off. I'll let you know...

Hate to say it but that sounds right. You guys in WI don't have a fight with your legislature so much as you have a fight with a fringe "one of your own" that keeps fouling everything up for the rest of you.

You're going to have to deal with that nutcase before any more progress will be made. He clearly wields enough muscle that you can't just go around him.

I feel for you guys, it's been a tough fight for you there.

Well, I made some calls and it doesn't look very good. I'm told that Nugent wants $20,000+ for speaking engagements.

That's a shame. Back in 2002, the WCCA put together a fund-raising banquet with Massad Ayoob as guest speaker. He flew in from New Hampshire, and all he asked for was plane fare and a motel room where he could smoke.

I'm not giving up on the idea, though. Just not holding out hope.

OH25shooter, he can ask whatever he wants. It's a free market, and he's entitled to whatever he can get.

It may well be that he charges for events that don't do anything in particular for gun rights, but doesn't for events that do. That's what I'm holding a little bit of hope for.

No slam on Ted Nugent at all.

What in the hell could Ted Nugent say that would be worth 20K?????

Every time he opens his mouth it sounds like a toilet flushing....

12-34hom.

Them theres fightin words mister :neener:

Seriously ted rocks and if I had an event that needed speakers and 20k to spend on it I'd book him in an instant

Compared to what some celebs charge 20k is cheap

Love him or hate him, Ted Nugent stands up, speaks out and does more for gunowners rights than just about anyone else!!!
BTW, Uncle Ted rocks like a f:cuss: wildman!!!!!!!
John

I will tell you something else Ted does. He goes to schools to talk about drugs, alcohol and tobacco. He was down here in Arkansas a few years back and all the local schools took their kids to see him. My sister is a teacher and she said the kids loved him.

Ted is a very articulate man

Every time he opens his mouth it sounds like a toilet flushing....

12-34hom.

how on earth can you say something like that? It's an outright lie! You must never ever have listened to anything he has to say.

12-34hom, if thats all you can up with then I simply must reply with TROLL!

besides being an articulate, intelligent defender of the Constitution...he is a great musican!

You could always spend a little more and book Bill Clinton, guaranteed to draw a bigger crowd.....(of angry gun owners)

Rembrandt, truer words were never spoken.

Governor Doyle can send one of his campaign staffers down to Chicago to sit with one executive from a road-building company, have a cup of coffee and maybe some French cheese, and walk out with a check for $10K

No matter what avenue I pursue, it looks like it requires trying to get hundreds of people to pay $50 to $100 each for something. IOW, nobody wants to just contribute to the cause unless they get something out of it.

It may well be that Ted Nugent has looked at the situation in WI, and would be willing to help at no charge.

Or, maybe he won't.

Regardless, here's my constant harp to my fellow Cheeseheads: if you want concealed carry next year, you'd better start working on fund-raisers that can bring in a few thousand dollars each.

If you don't think that raising money for campaigns gives you access to the legislators, you're naive. If you object to such tactics, you're disarmed.

We have until November 7th to help pro-CCW candidates get elected.

If Ted Nugent is willing to come here the day before the NRA convention starts (a convention he'll be attending anyway) and help raise money, that would be great.

If not, then we need to continue to pursue smaller fund-raisers that still bring in respectable amounts of contributions.

As a black person, Im not a fan of Nugent at all. It's great he's for RKBA and all, but he's not a person I'd ever want representing me or associated with me.

I dont like how he nonchalantly uses the "N word" and other racial slurr and acts like people shouldnt be offended. I dont think he's a racist or anything.. just insensitve to others.
Example:
http://www.nocompromise.org/news/000731c.html
He prides himself on "telling it like it is" I guess.. thing is, "it" isnt always like he's telling it. Some stuff I can agree with him on.. other things make me think "*** is wrong with this guy?"

crazed_ss

No Compromise is an animal liberationist organization. As such I would be highly suspect of anything they list as fact. I have heard Ted speak a number of times and do not ever recall him using the N word.

You mean like half the black kids I see everyday with ten pounds of bling bling and their pants halfway down their ass?

Say it isn't so a white man said the n word, why that word just isn't acceptable these days and the barbarian racist still says it!
