I'm loading 25/06 using new Winchester brass and Hornady 100 gr. interlock spire point bullets. Min. overall length is listed at 3.2" and max is 3.25". If I seat to about 3.205 -3.21 the cannelure is about 1/8" or so above the case mouth. Is this okay or must the cannelure meat the case mouth? I'm guessing the cannelure was put on these bullets for a different 25 caliber round. I'm loading about 43.5gr of Varget so there is plenty of case room but I don't want to run into pressure problems by seating them to far. If the cannelure doesn't matter, than all is well. I'm planning on using Nosler combined technology 85gr ballistic tip bullets after I run out of these Hornadys. TIA for any advice.

the cannelure is for crimping, so the mouth of the case should be somewhere in the middle of the cannelure.

same time i would check the length of those cases. if your measure ments are correct then it sounds like somewhere there is a mismatch. as either the case is too short that the cannelure does not go in. or the wrong bullet or prefered bullet is being used.

The case length is fine. They were running about 2.485 and max is 2.494. I figured it was kind of like using 147 gr. 308 bullets for 30/06. The cannelure is high on those also. Thanks again.
