Does recoil affect your buying decision?

To an extent. I mind recoil that makes shooting difficult. Case in point: I prefer to carry a 9mm over a .40 because of the less snappy-recoil which lets me put rounds on target ~33% faster. To me speedy accuracy is king, and anything that hampers that is less than ideal. No problems with .45's though...

As for rifles, properly shouldered its fairly easy to soak up recoil, thus I don't really give it much thought. As long as I can quickly shoot it into the 10 ring, I don't care. I think this may have something to do with learning to shoot rifles on a 30.06 as my first rifle, ever.

Heavy recoil isnt nearly as important to me as it used to be. Less now is better, I re discovered the .22LR and enjoy it a lot. .357 are not the end all be all any more, the .38 is my favorite now. But i do enjoy some pretty stout 185 JHP from my 1911.
