Every month during the summer, our little church has a little fellowship barbeque and we have some of the best cooks from around make signature dishes and the best food imaginable.

So naturally, it is an excellent social event after church services.

We all eat, about 2 hours after the bbq began the pastor came up to me and said "I got something recently you might like" (he knows of my intrest in firarms), and I say "really?" (not knowing what he could be talking about lol), and then he says "Yep, I was at Wal*Mart and I saw something I could not pass up, a 6" Stainless Steel Springfield M1911-A1". And I'm like... "Niiiice!" ya know?

I'd really love to go shooting with him now :)

Do any of you guys have Packin' Pastor (so to speak) or a Pro-Gun Preacher? :D

Yep, I took one of his sons to an Appleseed event this year too.

Of course, I am married to his oldest daughter :neener:

The Baptist Preacher that married the missus and I was a hunter. We considered having the wedding party all armed and he said he would bring his SXS. We decided not to go armed since there would be too may kids from gun free (uneducated) home there and it might be a risk.

One of my chaplin's (Seventh Day Adventist) had more personally owned firearms stored in the arms room than any other soldier in the battalion (five or six as I recall). I asked why he kept them in the arms room and he said they were strictly for hunting. I got the feeling that his safe was full and he needed overflow. I don't know for sure what he kept at home but he asked me several times for an M9 to carry even though he knew full well he was not authorized one.

I might have to go to Alaska some day just to see them selling handguns there.

Our pastor is fairly indifferent towards guns. He has some milsurp at home that he inherited, which he keeps for display purposes. As for self-defense, he doesnt feel the need to CCW. Not against firearms, just has a lot of faith. :)

Yes

I am not sure how many he has. However, at our wedding a year and a half ago my pastor said "it's really supprising that i never grew up aroung guns, but how much i like them now." I truly think the world of this man!

Yup, my pastor is an avid hunter. He's asked me a couple of times to take him to my uncle's place in Alabama.

I also took my CWP course at a Baptist church down the road from my house.

I love South Carolina!

Our preacher is an avid hunter, and our church hosts an annual sportsman's banquet. Our church also sponsors a dove hunt every year too.

Yup.

Wait... that's me...

/Another church shooting in MO yesterday
//Didn't happen at mine
///Not having that; sometimes caring for the flock means feeding them, sometimes it means shooting the wolves.

Yesindeede. The pastor of the church where I grew up was a big firearms collector. He ended up as a missionary in Mexico so he sold most of them, but we love to go out shooting. All he has now is a .22 revolver, and a .50 and .70 caliber muzzle loader (OLD OLD OLD MUZZLE LOADERS!).

Used to be a member of a church which all of a sudden decided to implement an anti lawful CCW policy. Then I and another parishener left and became good friends. Realized that the church is the living body of Christ and not a building. My friends agreed, joined a Southern Baptist Church and realized that it was packed with likeminded patriot Americans who cherished the preciousness of life and understood that CCW was compatible with Christ's teachings. So we left the bolshevik church behind and joined a real church that gets it.

My baptist pastor knew that I worked shifts. One day he pulled me aside and told me that any man that doesn't teach his wife how to shoot and make sure she's armed at all times is failing in his responsibility to his family. That was almost ten years ago. Since that time, hardly a day has passed that we don't have some hardware on our hip or in our pocket.

I never should have moved from NC. Now I'm closer to the likes of Reverend Jackson and Father Pflegar. :barf:

Like technosavant, I'd say yes, as that would be me. But the law says I cannot carry in church, something I'd like to get changed. We've got a fair number of LEO's in our congregation, and of course the law doesn't apply to them, and occasionally they are going on or off duty, or maybe are even on duty, and come to church packing. It's a little "country church" so I doubt we'd ever have something like what just happened in MO, but I still don't like having to leave my sidearm in the car when at church.

My last 2 churches,yes...not sure about ournew one,we just started attending.I won't bring it up unless someone else does....and yeah,I ccw in church.
Our Pastor is from S.Africa,so he may have some different ideas about guns...although he's been here for years.Time will tell I guess.

I am a pastor and love to shoot, I go to the range 2-3 times a month and at our men's retreats we have a place we go in the mountains and do a lot of clay shooting as well as handguns.

I have my ccw but I don't carry while conducting services. With recent church shootings becoming more common we are having to consider our church security policy as we are an easy soft target. I always have my 340 pd with me at church in the office but I wish I had some police officers who attended our church to have as a security team.

Well... my pastor is pro-gun, but unfortunately he is not the pastor of my church anymore. We used to have gun-range fellowships and certain members of the church who liked guns would come out (even though everyone was invited) and sometimes even go to gunshows. He and I would also hang out and go shoot together sometimes.

Now we are in the process of getting a new pastor which i don't know if he will be pro-gun or not. I know some members of the church would still get together and shoot without hesitation, but as of right now, our pro-gun pastor is going to another church. Luckies :)

Less is More.

Older I get the Less I want meddlin' with me.
So churches are among things fired from my life.
Another is "family" , I fired all but one, and I just keep tossing stuff aside like this.

There is a difference in Religion and Spirituality.

Religion is for controlling the masses.

I'm a pastor-in-training you might say (I'm a seminary student and a "candidate for Gospel ministry" in our denomination, as well as a pastoral intern at our church), and I'm obviously quite pro-2A or else I wouldn't be here.

I have a CCW and I carry a Sig P229 in .40 s&w or a CZ P-01. I've been in college ministry for the past six years and one of my favorite things to do with the guys in my Bible studies is to take them out to the range. Trap, skeet, pistol range, rifle range, doesn't matter, I've taken them to all at some time or another.

Many if not most of the pastors I've known in our denomination are gun owners as well. You should see our pastor emeritus' trophy room, he's been on some safaris in Africa and is an avid deer, duck, and turkey hunter. He's got quite a collection of trophy mounts on his walls at home. I've never seen his gun collection, but I sure would like to!

Our preacher loves collecting swords but it usually sounds like he's against guns:confused:. Once he even came up to my dad before and asked just how many guns do you have with a not so friendly voice. It's been pretty apparent that we're treated different now by some of the ministers and members. I think that they're somewhat afraid to push it too far due to the fact that my grandpa is an elder and also the number of the other members who own and shoot firearms very occasionally might get the idea of leaving and taking everyone with them.

I know our senior pastor owns firearms. His wife encourages members to get their CHL.

Close Friend

I grew up in a gun home but not a Carrying or Hunting home. My dad was older and would only carry on road trips etc. He had gotten too old for hunting so didn't do it by the time I came around.

After High School I really got into guns and my Bishop took me coyote hunting with his sons my age. When his boys and I turned 21 we went to take our CCW and invited him along, he declined saying he'd had his for years :what: since it became legal in AZ. Apparently he'd been doing it before then but of course didn't share... His "day" job is a Corrections officer so ....

Anyways when I moved out of town our last Sunday in church I went to give him a hug goodbye, a nice good man hug! lol! And what do I feel on his back but the butt of a Glock 27! How's that for living by the word and the sword! He's an inspiration to me.

YEP

And in fact next month i am organizing a mens fellowship event that is specifically for shooting skeet. I am hoping to use the event to get some of the younger guys in the church involved in shooting and hunting. Ofcourse my church was started with the specific purpose of reaching military personel on Ft Leonardwood. Many of the men at my church already hunt and fish or came from such background. Its just hard for those guys to find a place to shoot and hunt sometimes.

My Bishops have usually owned guns. Not sure about my current one, but I wouldn't be terribly surprised if he owned weapons/firearms.
