Base exchange at MCRD, San Diego had a real nice gun shop on the upstairs hallway. Was still there as of ~6yrs ago.
I was in there half a dozen times in the last 6 years, and I didn't see it. I seem to remember Camp Pendleton having some sort of outdoor shop in the early 80's, but I don't remember if they sold guns or not.

With respect to BX/PX the answer is some do...some don't...depends on the local demand on on the local command.

Exchanges in Alaska do, some in the NW and Ft. Bragg... probably others too..

FWIW

Went over today at lunchtime (21 Dec 04) and talked to the manager at the Navy Exchange (NEX) at NAS Lemoore, Ca.
She said the Company's policy is not to sell guns in ANY Navy Exchange.

The NEX is a non-profit company and all the profits go to the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) for Quality of Life (QOL) of Naval personnel.

The company has decided quite some time ago, she didn't know when, not to sell firearms, rifles and handguns.

There are no ammo sales either.
No Bows or Arrows.
No pellet guns, air rifles or BB guns.
No pellets or BB's.
No catalog sales or ordering.

She wasn't sure about AAFES Army or Air Force but fershur no sales of this type in any NEX.

MWR, strange outfit.
Wonder who is running that show?
Time for some research.

I haven't been on base in about five years , but I did purchase the following there , and later sold them .
Glock 17
Tula 54 SKS
Norinco NHM 91
Marine Mossburg 500
Colt 1991 .45ACP
Colt 1991 9mm
Mas 49/56
10/22
Ruger MKII
Taurs PT100

I think that is it .

A buddy of mine bought a Belgian FAL at the PX when he was stationed in Germany during the 1980s. He sold it to me some years later and I still have it. No import marks.
