Not in South Texas, you're liable to wake up with an unwanted bed-mate!

True Story.

I have been known to catch a few z 's on a nice warm sunny afternoon. I had a friend who was awakened by a buck grunt. He slowly reached for his rifle only to find it gone. The chuckling of his son solved the mystery. He had taken the gun, hid behind a tree and then woke old dad with his grunt call.:D

The best napping conditions I've found exist in a tree stand. Usually during the early fall, when the leaves are changing color and a gentle breeze gently sways me back and forth amid the colorful canopy. sleeeeepy now...you're getting verrrry sleepy now.

This is one of the primary reasons for a safety strap. It's just too easy to sleep up there!

No way, no how, absolutely not. I'll sleep when I'm dead.

I hunt when I'm hunting. And I don't hunt from a stand or blind.

A few years ago I awoke around sun down under a tree and there were about 30 crows in the trees waiting on me to die and 3-4 vultures circling overhead.

I think they were dissapointed when I walked off.

I awoke with a start one time. A squirrel ran up the tree right beside me! safety straps are a GOOD thing. Darn thing then set above me and chattered.

I've sometimes wondered how far away snoring can be heard? I've thought about a snoring muffler, but decided it sounded too much like a breathing muffler!!

Being Very quiet and still in the woods is its own reward. Observing nature is both entertaining & relaxing.

Nothing like a little snooze time up in a tree stand with the bow and arrow in hand, just waiting for the arrow to be dropped to the ground. Been there done that.

Why should I nap outside when I have an amazingly comfortable high back office chair in the box blind?????? It's really nice in there on a cold day with the heater going.

What I was thinking. Also a good reason to have a blind large enough to lay down in.

My best/worst napping story was while I was turkey hunting. Had a ground blind made from a broken down old hay bale surrounded by stick/bark structure so that I was invisible. I fell asleep while propped up on the side of the hay bale and when I came to, a turkey was heading right at me from across a small field. For some unkown reason, in my fuzzy stupor I decided that the best course of action was to stand straight up. I think that turkey is still running.

Early November in the Pennsylvania ridges. Turkey hunting on the ground.Sitting on a bed of leaves between tree roots.Warm morning, sliding slowly into a prone position.Dozing off until I heard a noise.Awoke to see a spike buck pursuing and mating with a doe only to be chased off by a rack buck who took over.Later saw 2 more does followed by 2 more rack bucks. My buddy's son took a rack buck and I took a 4 point in that area a month later.Best result of napping I've had.

Or, maybe they heard you snoring? :D
I took a friend of mine and his 14 year old son hunting last Saturday . His son posted a picture of him on facebook sleeping . He also recorded him snoring on his phone and played it for us after the hunt . That was so funny .

I just ordered a new climbing stand that is suppose to be real comfortable . I hope I can stay awake after lunch . That is my hard time of the day for me trying not to sleep .
