So I saw a used Chiappa Double Badger at the LGS a while back. Really liked the look of it, but wasn't sure of the .22LR/.410 combo. The .22WMR/.410 looks more interesting to me, and a .22WMR/20 gauge (does not appear to be an option) would make me smile.

Anybody have any experience with this gun? What do you think? I'm thinking it would be a great "trunk" gun, especially as it folds down into a compact package.

Don't know about the Chiappa Double Badger but from a few preliminary reviews it sounds like there are a few function, along with fit and finish, issues with the gun. Of course I still kick myself for not picking up a Savage 24 in .22 Magnum/20 gauge back in the day for a trunk gun. It would have been perfect for most of the small game and upland birds I use to go out hunting for.

I had a Savage 24 in .22Mag/20 for a lot of years. Great squirrel-gitter! It was heavy, though. I haven't missed it (much) but it was the experience with the 24 that piqued my interest in the Chiappa. The DB is definitely more compact than the Savage was. And the Savage had developed some collector value (sold it for significantly more than I paid for it); I would not have felt good about leaving it in the trunk.

I carried a Savage 22 lr/ 20gauge for years. I believe it is the ultimate squirrel gun. I was dissapointed in the 22WRM as a squirrel gun because it tears them up to much. I bought a Chiappa 22/410 recently. It is lighter, cheaper and seems OK at 25 yards. I think it will be a good gun to have availablè to shoot things that need to be sshot.
