Earlier today made it to the range with my CZ-40b, Sub2k (.40/G22 mag) and chronograph. While I was re-arranging my ammo supply yesterday I ran across two boxes of Doubletap ammo that I had "misplaced" through the years. I figured that I should check out what these bullet weights did in a 16" barrel.

I thought I would post the results:

Doubletap 155gr Gold Dot = 1247fps from the CZ and 1564fps from the Keltec
Doubletap 180gr Gold Dot = 1124fps from the CZ and 1400fps from the Keltac
Magtech 155gr JHP = 1136fps from the CZ and 1401fps from the Keltec
Masttercast 180gr Cast FP = 939fps in the CZ and 1137fps in the Keltec

I have to say that I am more than impressed with the Doubletap 155 and 180gr gold dots performance in the sub2k. The 155gr loading puts out 842lbs of energy...not to shabby for a little folding carbine.

Thats rather impressive, if I do say so. Now I wonder what it would do if they made the Sub2k in 10mm auto....

I think that the sub2k is pretty much maxed out with the .40. When I was shooting the 155gr ammo...you could REALLY feel the difference!

Rememeber that this little rifle is a simple blowback action. Moving up to 10mm might mean a major re-design into a locked breach or something similar.

A SUB2K in 10mm with a decent red dot would make a helluva pig gun!

Then again you guys are talking about upping the power of a handgun cartridge and putting it in a carbine. Once the Sub2k has the kick of full power 10mm, why not just shoot an AK with 154gr 7.62x39? I really only appreciate the value of a pistol caliber carbine as a low recoil, SBR configuration, full auto weapon. If I have 16" and semi-auto, I'll opt for 5.56 or 7.62.
Don't mean to get off topic with a rifle vs pistol carbine argument. DT is pretty impressive out of the longer barrel though.

Because the SUB2K weighs 4 lbs and folds in half. Plus it's a lot more accurate than your average AK. Also, the recoil of the 10mm would be negligible out of the carbine. I have a 9mm SUB2K and even with the hottest loads recoil is nil.

I got some Double Tap 9mm +P I haven't tried yet. Out of the KTsub2K it's suppose to give .357 mag performance up to 50 yards.

They do have the MechTech carbine in 10mm, it requires a G20 lower though...

I put in a post on it a while back. The Sub 2000 would be cool in 10mm but, I think it would definately require a whole new design. I took my 9mm S2K totally apart the other day and it looked fairly dinky. I doubt Kel-Tec would ever try something like this since the potential sales would never pay for the R&D involved.

I would like to see the Kriss Carbine in 10mm or even better a PS90 in 10mm with a 25 round magazine.

The 10mm in a carbine would be impressive no doubt, here are some figures taken from another forum...

135gr Nosler----------14.5gr 800X-----------2022fps--------------that's 1226 foot pounds, 200 more than a .223

200 grain XTP--------10.0 gr 800x----------1552 fps-------------1027 foot pounds, that's pretty similar energy to .223

And thats out of a 10" barrel! Imagine what a 16" could do!

I'm happy with my 9mm S2K.

No recoil to speak of, accurate, light, it folds, and the ammo is relatively cheap.

What's not to like?
