I bought this rifle about 1 month ago and it's my 1st venture into the .308. I quickly learned that commercial ammo wasn't cutting it. It was shooting 1.5" - 3" groups.
I'm zeroing in on .75" - 1" groups with reloads and should be able to get .75"
A couple of things I have learned so far:
1) ZQ1 brass sucks. The rims and case heads are soft and distort easily, not
good for reloading.
2) It's easy to over pressure this round or at least for this rifle. I started my
charge in the middle of the charts. The dual ejectors really leave their mark
on the rim.
3) I'm down to 42 gr. of IMR4064 and Varget with a 175 gr SMK.
4) Reloader15 isn't working out. The groups opened up to 2".
I'll stick with the IMR4064 and Varget. I'm thinking the IMR4064 is going to
be the best.
I have 165 gr. Hornady Match bullets on the way.
What are you guys doing with your rifle and reloads?
