Hello all.

I have removed AR-15 hand guards before and know how to pull the delta ring down and pull them off. My question is, the ones on an Oracle I'm working on don't want to budge, and I'm worried about breaking or scratching the glacier guards or the gun in the process if I monkey with it too hard. Also, there is a round piece with two grooves in it that almost resembles a castle nut between the gas block and handguards, shown here:

Do I need to do anything special with that round nut thing between the hand guards and gas block, or do I just need to pry harder on the glacier guards to get them off?

Thanks!

Buy a removal tool, or find a friend.

I've never needed the tool, nor have many friends.

It removes the same as any AR.

that round piece looks like a typical handgaurd end cap, it just keeps the handgaurd still while shooting, don'ttry to remove it without the tool, normally if they don't move its cause the delta ring isn't all the way back

+1

You just ain't compressing the delta ring spring enough.
Pull till your fingernails bleed.

Or buy or make a delta ring tool.

Thanks all. Delta ring compression wasn't the issue (I use a pair of coated-grip pliers to depress it, which works well). For some reason, this one was more of a PITA in terms of actually prying off the hand guards. I had to use a screwdriver to pry it off. I have never had to do that before, so I wanted to make sure I wasn't gonna break the plastic. Lesson learned.

Thanks again for all the replies.
