I picked up my SIG 1911 C3 yesterday and took it to the range today. There is really nothing I can add that hasn't already been said. Accurate, love the trigger and more manageable recoil than my .40.

My cost of shooting is about to go up with the .45 but it will be worth it.

I love it - another happy SIG 1911 customer. :D I have one and just love it and it has never given me a problem.

Regardless of the finish, all new Sig 1911s are stainless frame/slide and come with match grade barrel/trigger components. I have the 1911 railed TacPac. Sig Sauer confirmed it is the same pistol as the TacOps without the ambi-safety, night sights and mag well. Very accurate and reasonably priced at around $750-$800.

Checked out a Sig 1911 today. Nice gun, great fit & finish. It bugs me they have an external extractor. Not really sure why.

Don't sweat the external extractor. If correctly fitted and with a quality spring installed they have worked just fine for many many years. 1911s are probably the most pleasant and satisfying guns to shoot. I got hooked for life the first time I shot one. Take up reloading and the cost is not a problem. You will still spend about the same amount but you will get to shoot many more rounds. Plus once you find "the load" that your gun likes it will become a tack driver.

I guess I really did drink the Kool aid. I've only had the SIG 1911 C3 for 3 weeks and like it so much I decided I wanted a 1911 in 9mm too.

I Just bought an STI Trojan 1911 in 9mm.

The .45ACP is about the easiest cartridge to reload, low pressure, very forgiving, especially if you choose a "bulky" powder that overflows the case should you double charge.

After the initial investment in equipment, will get you a bit below cheap 9mm factory ammo costs if you shop for components carefully and buy in quantity.
