drill a hole in the back of your ruger 10/22?

Guys, I totally missed the fact that the hole would be covered by the stock anyhow. Hopefully, that is true for the Charger as well.

I have a little brass thing that has a cone shape and goes on the cleaning rod. You push it up against the crown, which protects the crown somewhat. I don't know what they call it.

Incidentally, this is just a small portion of the information that is contained in the ebook, which I bought. He has several other ideas that I haven't seen posted elsewhere. Although I'm basically cheap, I thought the information was well worth the 12 dollars.

What I didn't like is that I had to pay for it via Paypal, which I'm not too fond of using. (I use Prudential Financial Master Card, which allows you to generate a new card number, date the card expires, and maximum amount for the purchase, for each online purchase).

I'll echo the boresnake comments. Same end result with no risk. It is what I do for mine on the rare occasion I feel the need to clean the bore on a 10/22.

That having been said, I found an easier way of drilling the hole with no need for a jig... I just chuck the bbl. into the lathe and use a 1/4" end mill in the tailstock... Since it's locating off of the bbl. centerline the location in the receiver is given.

For those with a lathe, that is the simplest method avaliable. :) Good thinking!

I use the patch worm for my 10/22. It was like $5 and can't damage the crown. Of course, I also cleaned the barrel from the crown with a rod for 10 years, didn't seem to hurt it at all.

Mr Scott and CRITGIT have it right. Bore guides or a bore snake. .22 bores do not need to be cleaned much. I don't clean my bores unless I see a drop in accuracy and thats usually after thousands of rounds. When I do clean I fish a piece of 440 chord through the bore from breach to muzzle, tie a knot in the end with a few drops of CLP and pull it through.

okay, I guess I can see the utility on a high end barrel, but for your average 10/22 i'd say not to bother, just boresnake it
