dumb question (sorry)

I am very active on THR forums involving pistols ...but in rifles I am severely lacking knowledge.

What is the difference between an M4-A2 and an M4-A3 rifle???

Again - this is probably soooo easy, But I can't find the answer

A2 = Carry handle upper
A3 = Flat top upper

With all the different configurations available it can get confusing.

Actually, the A2 is the fixed carry handle with an easily adjustable rear sight. The A1 has a much less adjustable rear sight.
